Terrorism In Norway
Terrorism in Norway includes a list of major terrorist incidents where organized groups and lone wolves have tried carrying out attacks. In recent years, there has been a rise mostly of Islamic extremism and far-right violence and various groups have been suspected of terrorism plans. The Norwegian Police Security Service are closely monitoring Islamist and far-right groups in Eastern Norway. 21st century The right-wing terrorist Philip Manshaus who was behind the Bærum mosque shooting in August 2019, admitted to have been in contact with the Nordic Resistance Movement prior to the attack, but was never accepted as a member. In November 2020 the Norwegian Police Security Service (PST) made an announcement about the general terrorist threat against Norway as moderate. Terrorism, in its broadest sense, is the use of criminal violence to provoke a state of terror or fear, mostly with the intention to achieve political or religious aims. Lone Wolf (terrorism)
A lone wolf attack, or lone actor attack, is a particular kind of mass murder, committed in a public setting by an individual who plans and commits the act on their own. In the United States, such attacks are usually committed with firearms. In other countries, knives are sometimes used to commit mass stabbings. Although definitions vary, most databases require a minimum of four victims (including injured) for the event to be considered a mass murder. Lone actor attacks have become the subject of academic research. Studies have found that some lone actor attacks are committed because of personal grievances and a desire for revenge, while others are acts of terrorism, intended to induce fear and influence the way people think. Anna-Greta Leijon (born Anna Margareta Maria Lejon, 30 June 1939) is a Swedish former social democratic politician. She held various ministerial posts one of which was the minister for justice although she does not have any degree in law. Early life and career Leijon was born on 30 June 1939 in Stockholm, Sweden. She was employed at the Swedish Labour Market Administration (''Arbetsmarknadsstyrelsen'') in 1964 and became agency director there in 1970. Leijon was minister without portfolio from 1973 to 1976 and member of the Riksdag ( s) from 1974 to 1990 (vice chairman of the Committee on the Labour Market from 1979 to 1982). Stortorvet
Stortorvet ('The Grand Plaza') is a square in Oslo, Norway, located west of Oslo Cathedral. Background It was officially inaugurated during the autarchic times, in 1736. A town market was held here until 1889. Marketing still exists, but has largely been moved to Youngstorget. The building that houses the restaurant Stortorvets Gjæstgiveri is a Norwegian Cultural Heritage Site. Other buildings surrounding the square are business buildings such as GlasMagasinet and the main entrance of the Oslo Cathedral. Stortorvet was located on the outskirts of the part of the capital that was founded by King Christian IV, Christiania. A bronze statue of the king pointing is located in the square, entitled "here the city is to be". The square became an important hub for public transportation with the introduction of the tramway. Laju Incident
The Laju incident, also known as the Laju ferry hijacking, occurred on 31 January 1974 in Singapore. Four armed men from the terrorist groups Japanese Red Army and Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine attacked the Shell oil refinery complex on Pulau Bukom and later hijacked the ferryboat ''Laju'' and took its five crew members hostage.
