State Route 477 (SR 477), also known as Cummins Mill Road, is a state highway in Jackson County, Tennessee. It connects SR 290 in Bloomington Springs with SR 135 near Dodson Branch, and it provides access to Cummins Falls State Park. Route description SR 477 begins at an intersection with SR 290 in Bloomington Springs. The highway travels to the northeast. About half-way between its termini, it passes Cummins Falls State Park. SR 477 crosses over the Blackburn Fork River and proceeds in a northeasterly direction until it meets its eastern terminus at an intersection with SR 135. Jackson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee. The population was 11,638 at the 2010 census. Its county seat is Gainesboro. Jackson is part of the Cookeville Micropolitan Statistical Area. History Jackson County was created by an act of the Tennessee General Assembly on November 6, 1801. It was the 18th county established in the state. It was formed from part of Smith County plus Indian lands. The name honors Andrew Jackson, who by 1801 had already served as a U.S. Congressman and Senator from Tennessee, a Tennessee Supreme Court justice, and a colonel in the Tennessee militia. He became more widely known as commander at the Battle of New Orleans and as the seventh President of the United States. State Route 290 (SR 290) is a state highway in Jackson and Putnam counties in the U.S. state of Tennessee. It connects SR 53 northeast of Granville to SR 135 in Cookeville via SR 56 and Bloomington Springs. Route description SR 290 begins in Jackson County at an intersection on SR 53 northeast of Granville and southwest of Gainesboro. SR 290 then travels southeast through rural and mountainous terrain for the next several miles, where it is very curvy and passes through Nameless, before having a concurrency with SR 56 in Bloomington Springs. State Route 135 (SR 135) is a north–south secondary state highway located in eastern Middle Tennessee. it originates in White County along SR 289 on the north side of Sparta, and its northern end is in Clay County along SR 52. The total length is long, and is entirely a secondary state highway. Route description White County SR 135 begins on the north side of Sparta at an intersection with SR 289 (Old SR 111) in White County. Cummins Falls State Park is a state park located northwest of Cookeville in Jackson County in the U.S. state of Tennessee. Blackburn Fork River is a river located in Jackson County, Tennessee. It originates near Cookeville, Tennessee, and is a major tributary of the Roaring River. It contains the seventy-five foot high waterfall, Cummins Falls, and runs within Cummins Falls State Park. Hiking, swimming, and fishing are popular activities on the river.
