Maresme
Maresme () is a ''comarca'' (county) located along the Catalan Mediterranean coast in Spain, between the ''comarques'' of Barcelonès (at the Southwest) and Selva (at the Northeast), and also bordering with Vallès Oriental (at the west). Its capital and largest city is Mataró (pop. 119,035 in 2007). Geography Maresme occupies a long and narrow area between the Mediterranean Sea and the hills of Serralada Litoral (Catalonia's coastal mountains), and specifically Montnegre's and 's hills in the northern half and Sant Mateu's hills in the southern half. This particular shape has conditioned both the geography and the history of this ''comarca''. Probably the main distinct elements of its geography are the characteristic ''rieres'' (torrents). These short, intermittent streams, which cross the ''comarca'' transversally about every hundred meters, produce powerful and dangerous floods when it rains. El Masnou
El Masnou (; ) is a municipality in the province of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It is situated on the coast between Montgat and Premià de Mar, to the north-east of the city of Barcelona, in the ''comarca'' (county) of el Maresme. The town is both a tourist centre and a dormitory town in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area. The main N-II road and a RENFE railway line run through the town, while a local road links it with the A-19 ''autopista'' at Alella. The town center has buildings in a wide range of styles: neoclassical, ''modernista'', ''noucentista'' and simply eclectic. Vallromanes
Vallromanes is a village in the Vallès Oriental, bordering Maresme, and approximately 25 km from Barcelona in Catalunya, Spain. It forms part of the Barcelona metropolitan area and extends along the northeastern slopes of the Sant Mateu range in the Cordillera Litoral; the end of which is home to the Vallromanes riverbed, which flows from Mogent towards Montornès del Vallès. The village is mountainous, largely covered in shrubs, as well as pine and oak forests. There are several gated communities in the area around the Vallromanes Golf Club and nearby. Alella
Alella () is a village in the ''comarca'' of Maresme in Catalonia, Spain. It is situated on the coast on the southwest side of the granite Catalan Coastal Range. The town is known for its wines, cava and perfumes, but is also a commuter town for nearby Barcelona. What used to be the old Roman Road (Via Augusta), uniting Rome and Andalusia, is still today a narrow road running through the village.
