Teilhol
Teilhol was a French automobile manufacturer founded in 1958 by Raoul Teilhol as ACL (Ateliers de Construction du Livradois). In 1978, the company was renamed after its founder. In 2006, 2CA (Concept Composites Auvergne) began making parts for Teilhol cars once again. Raoul Teilhol died at age 86 on 18 April 2008. 1970s Partnership with Renault In the early 70s, Teilhol (then called ACL) finalised a partnership with Renault. This was initially to provide parts for current Renault vehicles, for example raised roofs for the Estafette van. Teilhol also later produced Renault 4 pickups. Later, as beach cars such as the Citroën Méhari (which came out in May 1968) became more popular, Renault turned to Teilhol to provide a Renault-badged competitor. Teilhol therefore designed and began producing the Renault Rodeo 4 and 6, and later the 5 too. Citroën Méhari
The Citroën Méhari is a lightweight recreational and utility vehicle, manufactured and marketed by French carmaker Citroën over 18 years in a single generation. Built in front-wheel (1968–1988) and four-wheel drive (1980–1983) variants, it features ABS plastic bodywork with optional/removable doors and foldable, stowable, fabric convertible top. The Méhari weighed approximately , and featured the fully independent suspension and chassis of all Citroën 'A-Series' vehicles, using the 602 cc (36.7 cu in) variant of the flat twin petrol engine shared with the 2CV6, Dyane, and Citroën Ami. The car also uses the Dyane's headlights and bezels, and 4WD units differ externally by having the spare wheel on the hood, in a molded recess. The car is named after the fast-running dromedary camel, the méhari, which can be used for racing or transport. Renault Rodeo
The Renault Rodeo was a series of off-road mini SUVs produced between 1970 and 1987 by ACL for Renault. In total there were three generations of the Rodeo. At first the car was called the ACL Rodeo and the name was changed to Renault Rodeo in July 1976. The vehicle was front wheel drive but could be ordered also with four wheel drive technic supplied by Sinpar. Rodeo 4 (1970-1981) The original Rodeo 4 was based on the platform of the Renault 4 van, with an 845 cc engine. Rodeo 6 (1972-1981) In 1972, a second model appeared, now known as the Rodeo 6. It was still based on the platform of the R4 van, but with the 1108 cc engine of the Renault 6. In 1979, the Rodeo 6 was improved and adopted the 1289 cc engine of the Renault 5. Renault 6
The Renault 6 is a C-segment small family car manufactured and marketed by the French automaker Renault between 1968 and 1986. The Renault 6 (R6) was launched at the 1968 Paris Motor Show, and was intended to be an upmarket alternative to the Renault 4 that would compete with the Citroën Ami 6 and the recently launched Citroën Dyane. It used a similar dashboard-mounted gear-lever and over-the-engine linkage to that used in the Renault 4 and the small Citroëns with which it competed. The R6 used the R4 platform as well as its engine and was technically near-identical, but its hatchback body was larger and more modern. Visually it resembled the larger Renault 16. The Citroën AX is a supermini which was built by the French manufacturer Citroën from 1986 to 1998. It was launched at the 1986 Paris Motor Show to replace the Citroën Visa and Citroën LNA. Renault 4
The Renault 4, also known as the 4L (pronounced "Quatrelle" in French), is a small economy car produced by the French automaker Renault between 1961 and 1994. Although the Renault 4 was marketed as a short station wagon, its minimal rear overhang, and single top-hinged rear opening made it the world's first mass-produced hatchback car, as well as the first front-wheel drive family car produced by Renault. The car was launched at a time when several decades of economic stagnation were giving way to growing prosperity and surging car ownership in France.
