''Teenage Shutdown! Teenage Shutdown! Things Been Bad'', sometimes referred to as "Volume 3," is the third installment in the Teenage Shutdown! (series), Teenage Shutdown! series of garage rock compilation album, compilations put out by Tim Warren of Crypt Records, which is available on both LP and compact disc formats. This volume was released on October, 6 1998 in music, 1998 and consists of primarily harder rocking up-tempo material as indicated by the sub-heading, which reads "18 Prime Slabs of Mid-'60s Garage Punk Grunt." Like all of the entries in the series, the collection was compiled and mastered by Warren, using original Gramophone record, 45 rpm records selected from the collection of noted garage rock archivist, Mike Markesich (colloquially known as "Mop Top Mike"). Garage rock (sometimes called garage punk or 60s punk) is a raw and energetic style of rock and roll that flourished in the mid-1960s, most notably in the United States and Canada, and has experienced a series of subsequent revivals. ''Teenage Shutdown! You Treated Me Bad!'' (subtitled ''The Teener Side of the Mid-'60s Garage Explosion'') is a compilation album featuring material by underground garage rock musical artists that recorded in the mid-1960s, and was previously available to only a handful of collectors. It is the second installment of the ''Teenage Shutdown!'' series and was released on Crypt Records on October 6, 1998 (''see'' 1998 in music). ''Teenage Shutdown!'' is a series of garage rock compilation albums assembled by Tim Warren of Crypt Records, best known for his '' Back from the Grave'' series. Most of the volumes in the ''Teenage Shutdown!'' series, gravitate towards the more raw and aggressive examples of the genre, but some volumes also reflect different aspects of garage rock, such as frat rock, soul-influenced rock, as well as folk rock and psychedelic. Gramophone Record
A phonograph record (also known as a gramophone record, especially in British English), or simply a record, is an analog sound storage medium in the form of a flat disc with an inscribed, modulated spiral groove. The groove usually starts near the periphery and ends near the center of the disc. At first, the discs were commonly made from shellac, with earlier records having a fine abrasive filler mixed in. Starting in the 1940s polyvinyl chloride became common, hence the name vinyl. The phonograph record was the primary medium used for music reproduction throughout the 20th century. It had co-existed with the phonograph cylinder from the late 1880s and had effectively superseded it by around 1912. Records retained the largest market share even when new formats such as the compact cassette were mass-marketed. The Pink Finks
The Pink Finks were an Australian pop/R&B band of the mid-1960s. Based in Melbourne, the group is most notable for being the first in the series of bands that featured Ross Wilson and Ross Hannaford, which culminated in the hugely successful Daddy Cool. History The Pink Finks formed in early 1965 when 16-year-old R&B fanatic Ross Wilson joined forces with Rick Dalton and Ross Hannaford's schoolboy outfit The Fauves, which played mainly covers of The Shadows and The Ventures. They were a part-time band, since the members were all still at school at the time. Hannaford, who was only 14 when the band formed, was often driven to concerts by his mother, and had to be sneaked in and out of the licensed venues they played at because he was underage. The Chantays
The Chantays, sometimes credited as Chantay's, is an American surf music band from Orange County, California, United States, known for the hit instrumental "Pipeline" (1963). Their music combines electronic keyboards and surf guitar, creating a unique ghostly sound. History The Chantays were formed in 1961 by five high-school friends. Bob Spickard, Brian Carman (co-writers of "Pipeline"), Bob Welch, Warren Waters and Rob Marshall were all students at Santa Ana High School in California.
