Teemu Kankkunen (born 13 January 1980 in Helsinki) is a retired Finnish footballer and who most recently was the head coach of HIFK. Career He plays central defender. Height: 6'2" (188 cm) former clubs: Atlantis FC, FC Viikingit, AC Vantaa, TiPS, in December 2008 retired from professional football and is currently assistant coach of HIFK Helsinki. HIFK Fotboll or IFK Helsingfors is an association football section of HIFK, a sports club based in Helsinki, Finland. The men's football team competes in the highest tier of Finnish football, Veikkausliiga. Their home ground is the Bolt Arena. History Idrottsföreningen Kamraterna i Helsingfors was formed on 15 October 1897 by Georges Doubitsky, a 15-year-old student at the Svenska Reallyceum school in Helsinki. In those early years the club specialised in athletics, football and bandy. The football section was established in 1907, the same year that the Football Association of Finland was founded. AC Vantaan Allianssi (or AC Allianssi) was a Finnish football club, based in the town of Vantaa. History Allianssi were a club in decline, following an 8–0 defeat at fellow Finnish club FC Haka. FC Viikingit is a Finnish football club based in Vuosaari, East Helsinki, and currently playing in the ''Kakkonen'', the third tier of Finnish football. They play their home matches at Vuosaaren urheilukenttä, also called Heteniitty. The club's name and crest refer to Vikings, and they are known for their red colour. Atlantis FC
Atlantis FC is a Finnish football club, based in Helsinki. It currently plays in the third tier of Finnish football (''Kakkonen''). History The club was founded in late 1995 when Johanneksen Dynamo (founded 1980) and FC Norssi (founded 1985) merged. The name "Atlantis FC" was created by Gösta Sundqvist, singer of Leevi and the Leavings. The team began to play in the third tier of Finnish football (the ''Kakkonen'') in 1996 and in 1997 they were promoted to the Ykkönen. In 1999 the club reached the playoffs for promotion to the first tier (Veikkausliiga, or betting league in English, named for its sponsor) but lost to Vaasan Palloseura.
