Tallafornia
''Tallafornia'' was an Irish reality television series that was broadcast on TV3 in Ireland that previewed in December 2011 before debuting as a full series in January 2012 and axed in March 2013. It is considered to be Ireland's answer to ''Jersey Shore''. It is filmed in the quiet village of Rathcoole, ten minutes outside Tallaght, and is considered competition to RTÉ's '' Fade Street''. Seven housemates (ranging from 19 to 28 years of age) from Tallaght and the surrounding areas live together in a lavish townhouse in which their every act is filmed. The show was created by Fintan Maguire and Dara Tallon and was produced by Dara Tallon, Owen McArdle and Fintan Maguire (executive producer). Virgin Media Two, also called Virgin Two, is an Irish free-to-air television channel operated by Virgin Media Television (a subsidiary of Virgin Media Ireland). History 2006–2009 Channel 6 was launched on 30 March 2006, then operated by Kish Media's subsidiary Channel 6 Broadcasting Ltd. Kish Media was a consortium made up of Tullamore Beta Ltd (Windmill Lane Productions & Paul McGuinness ( U2 manager); owners of TV3), the Barry family of Barry's Tea, and Gowan Group. In its infant stages, the channels consortium invested €14 million to fund the project. It was anticipated that Channel 6 would launch further channels including a Channel 6+1 service and a music channel. In 2008, Kish Media announced the channel was for sale. Virgin Media One, also called Virgin One, is an Irish free-to-air television channel owned by Virgin Media Ireland (part of Liberty Global), operated through its subsidiary Virgin Media Television. The channel was known until 30 August 2018 as TV3 (and until 2006 as TV Three, launched on 20 September 1998), becoming Ireland's first commercial television channel. Television in the Republic of Ireland is available through a variety of platforms. The digital terrestrial television service is known as Saorview and is the primary source of broadcast television since analogue transmissions ended on 24 October 2012. Digital satellite (from Sky Ireland, Saorsat and other European satellite service providers are available) and digital cable (from Virgin Media Ireland) are also widely used. The Irish satellite fill-in service (Saorsat) is via Ka-Sat using the Irish KA band spot and has been available since June 2011. ''Jersey Shore'' is an American reality television series that ran on MTV from December 3, 2009, to December 20, 2012. The series follows the lives of eight housemates at a vacation home in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, on the Jersey Shore in seasons one, three, five, and six; South Beach, Florida, in season two; and Florence, Italy, in season four. The show debuted amid controversy regarding its use of the terms " Guido/Guidette", its portrayal of Italian-Americans, and allegations of perpetuating stereotypes. ''Fade Street'' is a reality television show produced by RTÉ Two in Ireland. The format is loosely based on the style of American reality-TV shows such as '' The Hills'' and '' The City''. It follows the personal lives of a group of Dubliners, aged 20 to 29. The show's participants work in a variety of jobs, several of which are associated with the Dublin-based ''Stellar'' magazine. According to RTÉ, the show is unscripted and responses are spontaneous. As in '' The Hills'', many scenes in the show are manipulated by the show's creators. The characters are not given lines or a script, but instead react genuinely to the situations into which they are placed. Santa Ponsa
Santa Ponsa ( Catalan and officially: ''Santa Ponça'') is a small town in the southwest of Mallorca. Located in the municipality of Calvià, it is 18 kilometres from the capital Palma. History It was believed that Santa Ponsa derived from a Roman villa called Santa Ponctia, but derives from the Arabic words ''Sanat Busa'' which means area of rush bushes. Santa Ponsa is where King James I of Aragon (''Jaume'' in Catalan) landed on September 12, 1229 in his successful quest to conquer the island and take it from the Moors after more than 300 years of Muslim rule. David Norris (politician)
David Patrick Bernard Norris (born 31 July 1944) is an Irish scholar, independent Senator and civil rights activist. Internationally, Norris is credited with having "managed, almost single-handedly, to overthrow the anti-homosexuality law which brought about the downfall of Oscar Wilde", a feat he achieved in 1988 after a fourteen-year campaign. He has also been credited with being "almost single-handedly responsible for rehabilitating James Joyce in once disapproving Irish eyes". Norris is a former university lecturer and a member of the Oireachtas, serving in Seanad Éireann since 1987. He was the first openly gay person to be elected to public office in Ireland.
