Talegaon is a town on the outskirts of the city of Pune, India. Demographics At the 2001 Census of India, Talegaon Dabhade had a population of 42,574. Males constituted 53% of the population and females 47%. The average literacy rate was 79%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy was 83%, and female literacy was 75%. At that time, 11% of the population was under 6 years of age. At the 2011 Census of India, the village comprised 13,856 households. The population of 56,435 was split between 29,033 males and 27,402 females. Transport Talegaon is served by Talegaon railway station which serves as a terminus for trains running on the Pune Suburban Railway. The station is of two platforms and has four tracks with two footbridges. This serves access to Talegaon Dabhade (village), Talegaon Dabhade village and General Motors, General Motors, Pune plant. Khanderao Dabhade
Khanderao Dabhade (Marathi: खंडेराव दाभाडे) is the founding patriarch of the ''Sarsenapati'' Dabhade family of Talegaon Dabhade. He was the eldest of the two sons of Yesaji Dabhade (Bodyguard of the Maratha King, Shivaji) and the grandson of Bajaji Dabhade. He was conferred the hereditary title of ''Sardar Senapati'' (or ''Sarsenapati'', Commander-in-chief, Duke) by Shahuji, the grandson of Shivaji on 11 January 1717. ] Life Khanderao Dabhade was an accomplished ''Sardar'' of the Maratha Empire. Most notably, from 1705–1716, ''Sardar'' Khanderao Dabhade led the Maratha Empire forces in Baroda. After his return to Satara, he was made ''Senapati'' on 11 January 1717. Khanderao Dabhade died at Juna Rajwada in Talegaon Dabhade near Pune, Maharashtra on 27 September 1729. Talegaon Railway Station
Talegaon railway station or Talegaon station is an important railway station on the Mumbai–Pune railway route. It has two platforms, five lines and one footbridge. This is a major halt for Pune Suburban Railway trains. This station serves as terminal for Pune–Talegaon suburban trains. Indori Fort
Indori fort also known as Induri Fort ( mr, इन्दुरी किल्ला)is one of the many Land forts of Maharashtra state in India. Situated close to the hill station Lonavala and north of Pune, Indori fort rises to an elevation of above sea level. The fort is located on the banks of Indrayani river. The fort was under the Maratha empire for the majority of the time. History Indori fort was built by Sarsenapati Khandojirao Yesajirao Dabhade in the year 1720-21. Moropant Trimbak Pingle
Moropant Trimbak Pingle (1620–1683), was the ''peshwa'' of the Maratha Empire, serving on Shivaji Maharaj's Ashta Pradhan (Council of Eight Ministers). Early life Moropant Trimbak Pingle was born to a Deshastha Brahmin family in 1620 Nimgaon. In 1647, he joined Chhatrapati Shivaji in establishing the Maratha Empire. Career He was one of the warriors who participated in the successful 1659 battle of Shivaji Maharaj's forces against the forces of Bijapur's Adil Shah which immediately followed Adil Shah's general Afzalkhān's death at Jāwali. 2011 Census Of India
The 2011 Census of India or the 15th Indian Census was conducted in two phases, house listing and population enumeration. The House listing phase began on 1 April 2010 and involved the collection of information about all buildings.
