The 2019 Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council election took place on 2 May 2019 to elect the inaugural members of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council in England, formed from the former unitary authorities of Bournemouth and Poole, and borough of Christchurch. At the same time an election for the new Christchurch Town Council was held. A shadow authority comprising elected members of the three preceding councils and relevant members of Dorset County Council sat prior to the election. Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council is a unitary local authority for the district of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole in England that came into being on 1 April 2019. It was created from the areas that were previously administered by the unitary authorities of Bournemouth and Poole and the non-metropolitan district of Christchurch. Talbot Woods is an area of Bournemouth, Dorset. Talbot Woods is south of Talbot Village. History Talbot Woods is known for its high house prices and affluent residents. Environment Talbot Heath nature reserve is in the area. Dog-walking is allowed though it is advised to keep them on a lead in the areas that a few cows are allowed to graze. It is designated as a Special Protection Area for its bird populations and a Special Area of Conservation for its reptile populations and heathland habitats, as well as being part of the Bourne Valley Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), meaning it is legally protected. Meyrick Park, Bournemouth
Meyrick Park () is a suburb and area of Bournemouth, Dorset. The park itself features a main field with rugby pitches, surrounded by elevated woodland on both sides and a golf course around the western side. Dog-walking is permitted on both, and the paved path along the main field is often used to get to the town centre. History Meyrick Park was opened in 1894 on previous common land. In the early 20th century the area was served by Meyrick Park Halt railway station. Cars used to be allowed access along the path by the main field, but this is now restricted. In 2014, decomposed partial human remains were found in the golf course by a dog who dragged them out the bushes. Police cordoned off the area and discovered a body 40ft up a tree, later revealed to be a man who went missing three years earlier. Talbot Village
Talbot Village is located on the boundary of Bournemouth and Poole in Dorset, England. The old Talbot Village was built between 1850 and 1862 because of the generosity of two sisters, Georgina and Mary Talbot. Georgina and Mary divided their year between Surrey and Hinton Wood House on the East Cliff of Bournemouth with their family and it was while living in Bournemouth that the sisters discovered the many poor who were suffering in the region. Between them, they sought to employ the poor to clear the land to build cottages — these were completed between 1850 and 1862. The workers were allowed to stay in the cottages and slowly, Talbot Village began to develop. The original cottages were built on an acre plot and each had a well, animal pens and fruit trees. The residents were charged a rent of between 4 and 5 shillings per week. Georgina Talbot then had 7 almshouses built for the elderly and widowed. Charminster
Charminster is a village and civil parish in west Dorset, England, situated on the River Cerne and A352 road north of the county town Dorchester. In the 2011 census the parish had a population of 2,940 and also contains the hamlet of Charlton Down. The village name derives from the River Cerne and the small 'minster' church of St Mary, resulting in "Cerneminster" (recorded in 1223), which eventually evolved into Charminster. The village, which includes Wolfeton House, was the place of origin of Richard Norman and family, one of the Planters of the Massachusetts Bay Colony in America, who arrived there in ca. 1626. Scientist Margaret Bastock died in the village in 1982, aged 62.
