Takis (snack)
Takis are a Mexican brand of rolled corn tortilla chip snack made by Barcel, a subsidiary of Grupo Bimbo. Fashioned after the taquito, it comes in numerous flavors, the best selling of which is the chili-lime "Fuego" flavor, sold in distinctive purple bags. Besides the rolled corn chips, Takis also produces a number of other snacks with the same flavor lines, including a number of different potato chip varieties, corn stix, popcorn, and peanuts. Takis were invented in Mexico in 1999 and introduced to the United States in 2004. Barcel originally intended to aim Takis towards the Hispanic demographic of the snack market, but its popularity has quickly spread among teens of different cultural backgrounds. Panagiotis "Takis" Ikonomopoulos ( gr, Παναγιώτης "Τάκης" Οικονομόπουλος; born 19 October 1943) is a Greek former international football player who played as a goalkeeper. He was nicknamed ''"The Bird"'' ''( gr, "Το Πουλί")'' after his impressive dives he did during his career. Career In 1963, a month after coach Stjepan Bobek arrived at Panathinaikos, Ikonomopoulos was transferred to the club from Proodeftiki. Takis Mousafiris ( el, Τάκης Μουσαφίρης; 1936 – 11 March 2021) was a Greek composer, lyricist and songwriter. He collaborated with several notable Greek singers such as Stratos Dionysiou, Dimitris Mitropanos, Rita Sakellariou and Tolis Voskopoulos, among others. He sometimes used two pseudonyms for his works, Antonis Zannas () and Nikos Michael (). Mousafiris was born on 1936 in Ioannina, Greece, although he later moved to Athens, feeling great affinity for both cities. His father was from Kalarrytes, while his mother was from Syrrako. Mousafiris was an ethnic Aromanian, with his parents originating from ethnic Aromanian villages. Mousafiris stated on an interview that traditional Aromanian music influenced him and that both of his parents played musical instruments.
