"Take One Last Breath" (formerly known as "Pedestrians Is Another Word for Speedbump") is a song by Canadian metalcore band Abandon All Ships. It was released as the first single from their debut album, ''Geeving''. The single was released on iTunes on June 29, 2010, followed by the music video being released on June 30, 2010, where it premiered on VH1. Background The song was written by the group prior to the release of their self-titled EP. At that time, "Take One Last Breath" was titled "Pedestrians Is Another Word for Speedbump". Angelo Aita explained that the song name was changed because the band "changed the song completely...so it's like a new name for a new song" and that Universal Music Canada, "wanted bandon All Shipsto shorten he song titlebecause it was really long." Abandon All Ships
Abandon All Ships is a Canadian metalcore band from Toronto, Ontario. Formed in 2006, it was signed domestically to Universal Music Canada via Underground Operations, along with an American deal to Rise Records and its imprint Velocity Records. History Formation and First EP (2006–2009) Abandon All Ships was founded in 2006 in Toronto, Ontario, originally playing covers of Norma Jean songs. Most of the band members attended Dante Alighieri Academy, including lead vocalist Angelo Aita, keyboardist Sebastian Cassisi-Nunez, and original guitarist David Stephens; Toronto friends Martin Broda and Francesco Pallotta were added on bass and drums respectively. Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. ''Headbangers Ball'' is a music television program that consisted of heavy metal music videos airing on MTV and its global affiliates. The show began on MTV on April 18, 1987, playing heavy metal music videos from both well-known and more obscure artists. The show offered (and became famous because of) a stark contrast to Top 40 music videos shown during the day. However, with the mainstream rise of alternative rock, grunge, pop punk and rap music in the 1990s, the relevance of ''Headbangers Ball'' came into question, and the show was ultimately canceled in 1995.
