Taismary Agüero
Taismary Agüero Leiva (born March 5, 1977) is a Cuban-born Italian volleyball player. She is the only player to represent two women's volleyball national team to win Major titles (1995 FIVB World Cup, 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, 1998 FIVB World Championship, 1999 FIVB World Cup and 2000 Sydney Olympic Games for Cuba; 2007 FIVB World Cup for Italy). Life Born in Yaguajay in the province of Sancti Spiritus, when she began to play volleyball when she was eight years old. Two years later, she entered in the Cerro Pelado Training Center in Havana. In 1993 she won the junior women's volleyball world championship and then joined the senior national team. She did not participate in the 1994 FIVB Women's World Championship, but she won the gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta two years later. Yaguajay, Cuba
Yaguajay () is a municipality and town in the Sancti Spíritus Province of Cuba. It is located in the northern part of the province, and borders the Bay of Buena Vista to the north. The Caguanes National Park (protecting swamp and coastal ecosystems, caves and mural art) is located in Yaguajay. 2007 Women’s European Volleyball Championship
The 2007 Women's European Volleyball Championship was the 25th edition of the event, organised by Europe's governing volleyball body, the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball. It was hosted in Charleroi and Hasselt of Belgium and Luxembourg City of Luxembourg from 20 to 30 September 2007. Participating teams Format The tournament was played in three different stages. In the first stage, the sixteen participants were divided in four groups (A, B, C and D) of four teams each. A single round-robin format was played within each group to determine the teams' group position; the three best teams of each group (total of 12 teams) progressed to the second stage. The second stage of the tournament consisted of two groups of six teams each. As the first stage match results amongst the teams which advanced to this stage also counted, the two groups had been predetermined, one group formed by groups A and C teams while the other was formed by groups B and D teams. Regla Bell
Regla Maritza Bell MacKenzie (July 6, 1970 in Havana) is a volleyball player from Cuba who won the gold medal three times at the Olympic Games from 1992–2000, and the World Championship in 1998 with the Cuban national team. Career She won three gold medals in a row at the Summer Olympics, in 1992, 1996 and 2000. She won two gold medals in a row at the FIVB Women's World Championships, in 1994, and 1998. She also won four gold medals in a row at the FIVB Women's World Cup, in 1989, 1991, 1995, and 1999. For the regular season of the 2008/2009 Spanish Superliga, Bell was elected MVP and Best Scorer after hitting 439 kills during that regular league. Bell played for São Caetano/Blausiegel in Brazil for the 2009/2010 season. Mireya Luis
Alejandrina Mireya Luis Hernández, often referred to as Mireya (born August 25, 1967 in Camagüey) is a retired Cuban volleyball player. Life At the age of 10 she started playing volleyball. At 16, Mireya joined the Cuban national team for the 1983 Pan-American Games, in which Cuba took first place. She would play with them again in the 1987 Games, and Cuba would again win the tournament. After a brief hiatus due to injury, she resumed play in 1990 at the World Championship in Japan where the Cuban team finished fourth. In 1991 she led the Cuban team to win its first ever World Cup in Mexico . Mireya won her first Olympic gold medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics, 1992 Games in Barcelona with team mate Regla Bell. She would win a second gold in 1996 Olympic Games, Atlanta in 1996, again playing with the Cuban national team.
