Taini Jamison Trophy
The Taini Jamison Trophy is an international netball tournament hosted in New Zealand by the Netball New Zealand organisation. The trophy is contested by the New Zealand national team and at least one touring national team each year. Consequently the format for the competition can vary on a yearly basis. History The Taini Jamison Trophy was introduced in 2008 to mark instances when any netballing nation, other than Australia, plays the Silver Ferns on New Zealand soil. When New Zealand and Australia meet in non-World Cup or Commonwealth Games fixtures, the two nations play-off for the Constellation Cup. Since the inaugural series in 2008, most of the leading nations outside Australia have competed for the Taini Jamison Trophy, including England, Jamaica, South Africa, Malawi, Fiji and Samoa. Sky Sport (New Zealand)
Sky Sport is a group of sports-oriented television channels operated by New Zealand's satellite pay-TV company, Sky. History Sky Sport 1 is the original Sky Television sport channel in New Zealand. It was first introduced in 1990 as Sky Sport on the Sky UHF service. When Sky Sport began it operated between the hours of noon and around midnight, and occasionally screened live sports events outside these hours. By July 1991, Sky Sport commenced 24-hour transmission with a direct feed of ESPN at certain times during the week. Samoa National Netball Team
The Samoa national netball team or ''Tifa Moana'' represent Samoa in international netball tests and competitions. The team are coached by Marcia Hardcastle and are co-captained by Opheira Harder-Karatau and Julianna Naoupu. As of 21 July 2019, Samoa are 16th in the INF World Rankings. History They finished 12th at the 2011 World Netball Championships in Singapore, and 9th at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. On their debut at the Nations Cup (netball) Samoa, captained by Sanita To’o, won the tournament with a final score of 50-41 against Singapore. Samoa participated in the 2009 edition of the Fast5 Netball World Series, placing 6th in the competition. Julie Fitzgerald
Julie Fitzgerald is a veteran Australian netball coach. Between 1997 and 2007, Fitzgerald served as head coach of Sydney Swifts in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy league. She guided Swifts to premierships in 2001, 2004, 2006 and 2007. Between 2008 and 2011, she served as head coach of New South Wales Swifts in the ANZ Championship. In 2008, she guided Swifts to the inaugural ANZ Championship title. Between 2014 and 2016, she guided Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic to the Finals Series every year in the ANZ Championship. Since 2017, Fitzgerald has served as head coach of Giants Netball in Suncorp Super Netball, guiding them to two grand finals and two minor championships. 2022 Taini Jamison Trophy Series
The 2022 Taini Jamison Trophy Series, also known as the 2022 Cadbury Netball Series, was the 12th Taini Jamison Trophy series. It featured New Zealand playing Jamaica in two netball test matches, played in September 2022. Both tests were played in Auckland. New Zealand won the opening test 70–45. They then defeated Jamaica 75–35 in the second test to win the series 2–0. The New Zealand team were coached by Noeline Taurua and captained by Ameliaranne Ekenasio. Jamaica were coached by Connie Francis and captained by Shimona Nelson. The series was originally due to start earlier and feature matches played at Hamilton's Globox Arena. However complications with passports and visas saw the Jamaica team's arrival in New Zealand delayed. This also resulted in Jamaica playing a severely under strength team. The 2021 Taini Jamison Trophy Series, also known as the 2021 Cadbury Netball Series, was the 12th Taini Jamison Trophy series. It featured New Zealand playing England in three netball test matches, played in September 2021. All three tests were played at Christchurch Arena. New Zealand won the opening test 48–42. However, England won the series 2–1 after winning the final two tests, 55–45 and 49–45 respectively. In both the second and third tests, England launched second half comebacks before emerging as winners. It was the first time that England had won a series in New Zealand and the first time they won the Taini Jamison Trophy. The England team were coached by Jess Thirlby and captained by Serena Guthrie.
