Tahan Range (Malay: ''Banjaran Tahan'') is a mountain range in Pahang and Kelantan, Malaysia. Along with the Titiwangsa Mountains to its west, the Tahan Range forms the southernmost extension of the larger Tenasserim Hills chain of mountains. Titiwangsa Mountains
The Titiwangsa Mountains (Malay: ''Banjaran Titiwangsa,'' بنجرن تيتيوڠسا, ), also known as ''"Banjaran Besar"'' (Big Range) by locals, is the chain of mountains that forms the backbone of the Malay Peninsula. The northern section of the range is in southern Thailand, where it is known as Sankalakhiri Range ( th, ทิวเขาสันกาลาคีรี, ). The range acts as a natural divider, dividing Peninsular Malaysia, as well as southernmost Thailand, into east and west coast regions. Tenasserim Hills
The Tenasserim Hills or Tenasserim Range ( my, တနင်္သာရီ တောင်တန်း, ; th, ทิวเขาตะนาวศรี, , ; ms, Banjaran Tanah Seri/Banjaran Tenang Sari) is the geographical name of a roughly 1,700 km long mountain chain, part of the Indo-Malayan mountain system in Southeast Asia. Despite their relatively scant altitude these mountains form an effective barrier between Thailand and Myanmar in their northern and central region. There are only two main transnational roads and cross-border points between Kanchanaburi and Tak, at the Three Pagodas Pass and at Mae Sot. Gunung Tahan
Mount Tahan ( ms, Gunung Tahan), is the highest point in Peninsular Malaysia with an elevation of above sea level. It is located within the Taman Negara national forest, in the state of Pahang. The mountain is part of the Tahan Range in the Tenasserim Hills and is popular with local climbers. Gunung Tahan is considered by many to be one of the toughest treks in Peninsular Malaysia. Trails There are three trails to the summit, commonly referred to as: * Kuala Tahan-Kuala Tahan * Merapoh-Kuala Tahan or Kuala Tahan-Merapoh * Merapoh-Merapoh The Kuala Tahan classic trail is the oldest and most scenic trail.
