T5 (Istanbul Tram)
The T5 Eminönü–Alibeyköy Coach Station tram line ( tr, T5 Eminönü–Alibeyköy Cep Otogarı tramvay hattı) is a tram line following the coastline of the Golden Horn on the European side of Istanbul, Turkey. Construction of the line began in 2016. The first section consisting of 12 stations between ( tr) and Alibeyköy Coach Station at a length of was officially opened on 1 January 2021. When completed, the line will be long with 14 stations each of length, and is expected to go into service in 2021. 30 trains will carry up to 114,000 passengers a day. Its route mostly follows the western coastline of the Golden Horn, and is built on the bank next to the existing street. In some places, it crosses the water on piles. The total travel time will be 35 minutes. Tram
A tram (called a streetcar or trolley in North America) is a rail vehicle that travels on tramway tracks on public urban streets; some include segments on segregated right-of-way. Alibeyköy (Istanbul Metro)
Alibeyköy is a metro station on the M7 line of the Istanbul Metro in Eyüpsultan. The station is located on Atatürk Street in the Alibeyköy neighborhood of Eyüpsultan. The station is located on a viaduct on Alibeyköy Creek. Access to the platforms of the station is provided by the entrances on both sides of the stream. The M7 line operates as fully automatic unattended train operation (UTO). The station consists of an island platform with two tracks. Zal Mahmud Pasha Mosque
The Zal Mahmud Pasha Mosque ( tr, Zal Mahmut Paşa Camii) is a 16th-century Ottoman mosque located in the Eyüp district of Istanbul, Turkey. It was designed by the imperial architect Mimar Sinan and completed in 1590. History The building of the mosque was jointly endowed by Şah Sultan and her second husband, the Bosnian born vizier, Zal Mahmud Pasha. Both had died in 1580. Şah was one of the daughters of the sultan Selim II and his wife Nurbanu Sultan. After the death of Şah Sultan's first husband in 1574 she married Zal Mahmud Pasha who in 1553 under Suleiman I's orders had strangled Şehzade Mustafa, a half-brother of Selim II and Suleiman's eldest son. The mosque was designed by the imperial architect Mimar Sinan. Building work began in 1577 but was not completed until 1590, two years after Sinan's death. Eyüp Sultan Mosque
The Eyüp Sultan Mosque ( tr, Eyüp Sultan Camii) is in the Eyüp district of Istanbul, outside the city walls and near the Golden Horn. On a much older site, the present building dates from the beginning of the 19th century. The mosque complex includes a mausoleum marking the spot where Ebu Eyüp el-Ansari (Abu Ayyub al-Ansari), the standard-bearer and companion of the Prophet Muhammad, is said to have been buried. Because of its particular sanctity, the mosque played a role in the coronation ceremony for new Ottoman Sultans, who came here - processing along the grand Cülus Yolu (Accession Way) - to be girded with the sword of Osman at the start of their reigns. Today its popularity as a pilgrimage destination means that it is full of shops selling religious items such as prayer rugs and beads. Eyüp
Eyüp () or Eyüpsultan is a district of the city of Istanbul, Turkey. The district extends from the Golden Horn all the way to the shore of the Black Sea. Eyüp is also the name of a prominent neighborhood and former village in the district, located at the confluence of the Kâğıthane and Alibey streams at the head of the Golden Horn. The Eyüp neighborhood is a historically important area, especially for Turkey's Muslims, due to the presence of the tomb of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari. Metrobus (Istanbul)
The Metrobus ( tr, Metrobüs) is a bus rapid transit route in Istanbul, Turkey. The system has 45 stations that follow the city's ring road via Avcılar, Zincirlikuyu and the Bosphorus Bridge to Söğütlüçeşme using dedicated bus lanes for almost the entire length the route. The busway, the first section of which opened in 2007 after two years of construction, is used by a number of Metrobus lines which operate within a ‘closed’ system carrying 1 million people daily. Turkish authorities have since assisted with the development of a similar system in Lahore, Pakistan, which opened in 2013.
