Tz'enah Ur'enah
The ''Tz'enah Ur'enah'' ( ''Ṣʼenā urʼenā'' "Go forth and see"; ; ), also spelt Tsene-rene and Tseno Ureno, sometimes called the ''Women's Bible'', is a Yiddish-language prose work whose structure parallels the weekly Torah portions and Haftarahs used in Jewish prayer services. The book was written by Jacob ben Isaac Ashkenazi (1550–1625) of Janów Lubelski (near Lublin, Poland), and mixes Biblical passages with teachings from Judaism's Oral Torah such as the Talmud's Aggadah and Midrash, which are sometimes called "parables, allegories, short stories, anecdotes, legends, and admonitions" by secular writers. Hebrew (; ''ʿÎbrit'') is a Northwest Semitic language within the Afroasiatic language family. Yisrael Meir Kagan
Yisrael Meir ha-Kohen Kagan (February 6, 1838 – September 15, 1933) was an influential Lithuanian Jewish rabbi, Halakhist, posek, and ethicist whose works continue to be widely influential in Orthodox Jewish life. Bahya Ben Asher
Bahya ben Asher ibn Halawa (, 1255–1340) was a rabbi and scholar of Judaism, best known as a commentator on the Hebrew Bible. He is one of two scholars now referred to as Rabbeinu Behaye, the other being philosopher Bahya ibn Paquda. Biography Bahya was a pupil of Rabbi Shlomo ibn Aderet (the ''Rashba''). Isaac Karo
Isaac Karo (1458-1535) was a famous posek, preacher, Rosh Yeshiva, and physician. He was born in Toledo, Spain and probably died in Jerusalem. He was the uncle and teacher of Rabbi Joseph Karo, author of the Shulchan Aruch. Biography Rabbi Karo studied under Rabbi Isaac Canpanton in Toledo. Eventually, he moved to Lisbon in order to establish his own Yeshiva. As a Spanish Jew, he was forcibly exiled from his homeland Spain after the signing of the Alhambra Decree in 1492 which expelled all Jews from the joint kingdom of Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon. Abraham Saba
Abraham Saba (1440–1508) was a preacher in Castile who became a pupil of Isaac de Leon. At the time of the expulsion of the Jews from Spain he took refuge in Portugal, where he met with further misfortune; for scarcely had he settled in Porto when King Manuel I of Portugal ordered all Jews to be expelled from Portugal, all Jewish children to become Christians, and all Hebrew books to be burned (December 24, 1496).
