Adobe Fonts (formerly Typekit) is an online service that provides its subscribers with access to its font library, under a single licensing agreement. The fonts may be used directly on websites, or synced via Adobe Creative Cloud to applications on the subscriber's computers. Adobe Fonts was launched as Typekit in November 2009 by Small Batch, Inc., a company run by creators of the Google Analytics service. In October 2011, the service was acquired by Adobe. On 15 October 2018, Typekit changed its name to Adobe Fonts. Adobe Fonts offers over 30,000 fonts as of November 2024. These fonts can be used for both personal and commercial purposes. Accessible with a Creative Cloud subscription, Adobe Fonts provides access to a wide selection of fonts from 150 different type foundries. The Adobe Originals program is a series of digital typefaces created by Adobe Systems from 1989 for professional use, intended to be of extremely high design quality while offering a large feature set across many languages. Many are strongly influenced by research into classic designs from the past and calligraphy. Adobe Originals fonts are sold separately or with Adobe products such as InDesign. Adobe Creative Cloud is a set of applications and services from Adobe Inc., Adobe that gives subscribers access to a collection of software used for graphic design, video editing, web development, photography, along with a set of mobile applications and also some optional cloud services. In Creative Cloud, a monthly or annual subscription service is delivered over the Internet. Software from Creative Cloud is downloaded from the Internet, installed directly on a local computer and used as long as the subscription remains valid. Online updates and multiple languages are included in the CC subscription.
