Tybo, Nevada
Tybo is an unincorporated community in Nye County, Nevada, United States. Tybo is northwest of U.S. Route 6 and northeast of Warm Springs. The community was established in the 1870s as a silver mining town. Its name came from the Shoshone word ''tybbabo'' or ''tai-vu'', meaning "white man's district". The community prospered in the 1870s; its population neared 1000, and it had a school, post office, and newspaper by the end of the decade. A variant is Tyboe found on Wheeler's map of 1871. Nye County is a county in the U.S. state of Nevada. As of the 2020 census, the population was 51,591. Its county seat is Tonopah. It was split from area code 702 on December 12, 1998, and covers the entire state except for Clark County, which retained area code 702 after the split. Major cities in this area code include Reno, Carson City, Elko and Pahrump. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and locative information about more than two million physical and cultural features throughout the United States and its territories, Antarctica, and the associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau. Warm Springs, Nevada
Warm Springs is a former town in the Tonopah Basin in Nye County, Nevada, near the mountain pass which divides the Kawich Range, Kawich and Hot Creek Range, Hot Creek ranges (at ). It is located at the junction of U.S. Route 6 in Nevada, U.S. Route 6 and Nevada State Route 375, State Route 375 (the "Extraterrestrial Highway"), around 50 miles east of Tonopah, Nevada, Tonopah. Only two abandoned buildings remain. History The first white settlement in Warm Springs was in 1866, when it served as a stopover for stagecoaches and other travellers. Shoshone Language
Shoshoni, also written as Shoshoni-Gosiute and Shoshone (; Shoshoni: soni''' ta̲i̲kwappe'', ''newe ta̲i̲kwappe'' or ''neme ta̲i̲kwappeh'') is a Numic language of the Uto-Aztecan family, spoken in the Western United States by the Shoshone people. Tybo Charcoal Kilns
The Tybo Charcoal Kilns are a pair of charcoal kilns located north of Tybo, Nevada. Both kilns are tall and in diameter and were built from rocks and mud. The kilns each have three openings: a top opening, a door at ground level, and a rear window with a ramp for wood wagons. The kilns were among 15 built in 1874 for the Tybo Consolidated Company. The company, which mined the region's silver, used charcoal to fuel its smelting furnace. To acquire its fuel, it imported wood from nearby hills, which it then converted to charcoal in the kilns. The kilns were built during a mining boom in the area around Tybo. Though the community had only been settled in 1870, by the end of the decade it had a post office, school, newspaper, and almost 1000 residents.
