Two Hands (Big Thief Album)
''Two Hands'' is the fourth studio album by the American band Big Thief, released through 4AD on October 11, 2019. The album comes five months after the release of the band's third studio album, ''U.F.O.F.'', and is described as its "earth twin". It was preceded by the singles " Not" and "Forgotten Eyes". Background and recording Recording for ''Two Hands'' began only days after the band completed recording their third studio album, ''U.F.O.F.'', at Bear Creek Studio in Woodinville, Washington. ''Two Hands'' was recorded primarily at Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas in July 2018. It was produced by Andrew Sarlo, who had since produced every album by Big Thief. Compared to the lush nature setting of Bear Creek, Sonic Ranch is located in the dry, hot Chihuahuan Desert of Texas. Big Thief
Big Thief is an American indie rock band with folk roots based in Brooklyn, New York. Its members are Adrianne Lenker (guitar, vocals), Buck Meek (guitar, backing vocals), Max Oleartchik (bass), and James Krivchenia (drums). The band's debut album, '' Masterpiece'', was released on Saddle Creek Records in 2016. Their second studio album, '' Capacity'', was released in 2017. In 2019, the band signed to 4AD and released two studio albums: ''U.F.O.F.'' in May 2019 and '' Two Hands'' in October 2019. Contemporary Folk Music
Contemporary folk music refers to a wide variety of genres that emerged in the mid 20th century and afterwards which were associated with traditional folk music. Starting in the mid-20th century a new form of popular folk music evolved from traditional folk music. This process and period is called the (second) folk revival and reached a zenith in the 1960s. The most common name for this new form of music is also "folk music", but is often called "contemporary folk music" or "folk revival music" to make the distinction. Metacritic is a website that review aggregator, aggregates reviews of films, TV shows, music albums, video games and formerly, books. The Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance is an award presented at the Grammy Awards, a ceremony that was established in 1958 and originally called the Gramophone Awards. According to the 54th Grammy Awards description guide it is designed for solo, duo/groups or collaborative (vocal or instrumental) rock recordings and is limited to singles or tracks only. This award combines the previous categories for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance, Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and Best Rock Instrumental Performance. The restructuring of these categories was a result of the Recording Academy's wish to decrease the list of categories and awards and to eliminate the distinctions between solo and duo/groups performances.
