It is controlled by the Football Federation of Turkmenistan and is a member of the Asian Football Confederation. The Football Federation of Turkmenistan ( tm, Türkmenistanyň Futbol Federasiýasy; TFF) is the governing body of football in Turkmenistan. History The Federation was founded in 1992 and in 1994 was admitted to FIFA, which registers all the matches of the national teams of all member countries. The national team of Turkmenistan registered their first matches as being held in 1992, and FIFA counted those matches on the basis that, although the Football Federation of Turkmenistan became a member of FIFA in 1994, the national team of Turkmenistan was allowed since 1992 to participate in tournament play. The Federation additionally boasts membership in the Asian Football Confederation since 1994. In March 2003 Football Federation of Turkmenistan held a special conference. Ahal Änew Football Club ( tk, Ahal Änew Futbol Kluby), or simply Ahal FC, is a Turkmen professional association football club based in the Änew, Ahal Province. Founded in 1989, the club played its first-ever top flight season in 1992. The club plays its home matches at the 20,000 seater Ashgabat Stadium. History During 1989–91, the club participated in the Soviet Second League. FC Ahal played in the top division of Turkmenistan in 1992, winning bronze medal, but the following year the team was disbanded. The returning season was 1998–99.
