Turkish Standards Institution
The Turkish Standards Institution ( tr, Türk Standardları Enstitüsü) is a public standards organization whose mission is to increase the competitiveness of Turkey, facilitating trade on national and international levels and develop society's standard of living by providing standardization and conformity assessment in diverse fields. History and Structure The institution was established in 1954 within the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey. With the passage of Turkish Law No. 132 in Turkish Parliament on November 18, 1960, it gained a separate legal entity and completed its establishment process. It is recognized by the Turkish government as the only national standards body of the country and represents Turkish interests at international standardization platforms. A standards organization, standards body, standards developing organization (SDO), or standards setting organization (SSO) is an organization whose primary function is developing, coordinating, promulgating, revising, amending, reissuing, interpreting, or otherwise contributing to the usefulness of technical standards to those who employ them. Such an organization works to create uniformity across producers, consumers, government agencies, and other relevant parties regarding terminology, product specifications (e.g. size, including units of measure), protocols, and more. European Committee For Electrotechnical Standardization
CENELEC (french: Comité Européen de Normalisation Électrotechnique; en, European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization) is responsible for European standardization in the area of electrical engineering. Together with ETSI (telecommunications) and CEN (other technical areas), it forms the European system for technical standardization. GCC Standardization Organization
The GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) is a standards organization for the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Yemen. It was established under the authority of the Gulf Cooperation Council. Its full official name is "The Standardization Organization of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf". It is headquartered in Riyadh and has a branch office in Jeddah. Where no GSO standard already exists, it reviews existing global standards and may adopt them. The GSO's Technical Council mandated the creation of a regional Metrology Organization to be called "GULFME". The GSO has also partnered with PepsiCo. The current secretary-general of the GSO is H.E.
