Turkish High Sculptors Society
The Turkish High Sculptors Society was founded on 22 April 1948. Turkish sculptors could not or had not become united to be organized professionally for a long time until the Sculptors Society was founded in 1948 as Turkish Sculptors Society (Turkish: Türk Heykeltıraşlar Cemiyeti) by Ali Hadi Bara, Nusret Suman, Yavuz Görey, Kamil Sonat, Hüseyin Anka, Ratip Aşir, Kenan Yontuç, Turgut Pura, Hakkı Atamulu and Burhanettin Durupınar. In 1961, the name was changed to Turkish High Sculptors Society (Turkish: Türk Yüksek Heykeltıraşlar Cemiyeti). Through those years, until at least 1974, the organisation continued to operate without being able to be recognised as a functioning and effective professional body according to some sources. Füsun Onur
Füsun Onur (born 1938) is a Turkish artist, based in Istanbul. She uses everyday materials in her painting and sculpture to reflect on space, time, rhythm and form. Early life and education Onur was born in Kuzguncuk, Istanbul. She attended the Department of Sculpture at the Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts, where she was a student of Ali Hadi Bara. Rewarded a Fulbright scholarship, she continued her master's degree in sculpture at Maryland College of Art, Department of Sculpture where she graduates in 1967. Taksim Square ( tr, Taksim Meydanı, ), situated in Beyoğlu in the European part of Istanbul, Turkey, is a major tourist and leisure district famed for its restaurants, shops, and hotels. Nermin Farukî
Nermin Sirel Faruki(1904–1991) was a Turkish people, Turkish sculptor, and one of Turkey's first female sculptors. She was born in Istanbul. She received education in the Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts painting department and later at the Academy of Arts, Berlin, Berlin Fine Arts Academy. Along with sculpture she also worked on paintings. Nermin Farukî was born as Nermin Faruki. Nermin Farukî was the daughter of the Ottoman Empires first perfume producers, Ahmet Farukî. She was a member of the Turkish High Sculptors Society. Gürdal Duyar (20 August 1935 – 18 April 2004) was a Turkish people, Turkish sculptor, known especially for his monuments to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Atatürk and Bust (sculpture), busts of famous people. Tamer Başoğlu (born 1938) is a Turkish sculptor. He was born in 1938 in Nazilli. Higher education In 1960 he graduated from the sculpture department of the Istanbul State Fine Arts Academy. With a state scholarship he went to Italy. In 1964 he returned to the academy as assistant. In 1968 he worked with Kirschner and Emilio Vedova at the Salzburg Summer Academy. Ali Hadi Bara
Ali Hadi Bara (September 9, 1906 – August 30, 1971) was a Turkish sculptor and one of the first artists of the Republican generation in Turkey. Biography Ali Hadi Bara was born in Tehran but moved with his family to the Ottoman Empire when he was young. From 1923 to 1927 he studied at the Fine Arts Academy in Istanbul. Following this he went to Paris and studied sculpture with Henri Bouchard and Charles Despiau. In 1930 he returned to Istanbul and the Fine Arts Academy to become an assistant teacher. He visited Paris between 1949 and 1950, after which he ceased to create figural works and instead turned to creating non-figural sculpture.
