Rugby World Cup
The Rugby World Cup is a men's rugby union tournament contested every four years between the top international teams. The tournament is administered by World Rugby, the sport's international governing body. The winners are awarded the Webb Ellis Cup, named after William Webb Ellis, who according to a popular legend, invented rugby by picking up the ball during a football game. The tournament was first held in 1987 and was co-hosted by New Zealand and Australia. Four countries have won the trophy; New Zealand and South Africa three times, Australia twice, and England once. South Africa is the current champion, having defeated England in the 2019 tournament final. 2012–2014 European Nations Cup Third Division
The 2012–14 European Nations Cup Third Division is the fourth tier of rugby union in Europe behind the Six Nations Championship and the 2012-2014 European Nations Cup First Division and the 2012–14 European Nations Cup Second Division. This will be the first tournament for Turkey, while returning from the 2010-2012 European Nations Cup Third Division are Slovakia and Azerbaijan. The winning team will be promoted to Division 2D of the European Nations Cup for the 2014–2016 cup. The 2021–22 Rugby Europe International Championships is the European Championship for tier 2 and tier 3 rugby union nations. The 2021–22 season is the fifth of its new format and structure, where all Levels play on a one-year cycle, replacing the old format of a two-year cycle, with the teams playing each other both home and away. The 2019–20 Rugby Europe International Championships is the European Championship for tier 2 and tier 3 rugby union nations. The 2016–17 Rugby Europe Conference is the third-level rugby union competition below the premier Championship and Trophy competitions. It is the inaugural Conference under its new format, that will see Andorra, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta and Sweden compete for the Conference 1 title. While Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Norway, Serbia, Slovenia and Turkey will compete for the Conference 2 title. The 2014–16 European Nations Cup Second Division is the third tier rugby union in Europe behind the Six Nations Championship and the 2014–16 European Nations Cup First Division. The second division comprises four pools (2A, 2B, 2C, and 2D). Teams within each division play each other in a home and away round robin schedule over a two-year period. At the end of every season a champion is declared, but for relegation and promotion only the two years ranking are considered. The 2021 Rugby Europe Sevens Trophy was the second division of Rugby Europe's 2021 sevens season. This edition was hosted by the cities of Zagreb and Budapest on 19–20 June and 10–11 July. The two highest-placed teams were promoted to the 2022 Championship series. The two teams with the fewest points were relegated to the 2022 Conference.
