Half Moon Bay, California
Half Moon Bay is a coastal city in San Mateo County, California, United States, approximately south of San Francisco. Its population was 11,795 as of the 2020 census. Immediately at the north of Half Moon Bay is Pillar Point Harbor and the unincorporated community of Princeton-by-the-Sea. Half Moon Bay is known for Mavericks, a big-wave surf location. It is called Half Moon Bay because of its crescent shape. Originally an agricultural outpost to Mission San Francisco de Asís, the town was founded in the 1840s first as San Benito, and then as is its Anglo fishing community grew, it was renamed Spanishtown. In 1874, it was again renamed to Half Moon Bay. After rail and road connections in the early 1900s, the town grew. East Fork Tunitas Creek is a small river in San Mateo County, California and is a tributary of Tunitas Creek. 09-20-07 The Tunitas Creek Association (TCA) is a conservation organization was founded in 2004. The current secretary, Pliny Keep, lives on the East Fork of Tunitas Creek. Tunitas Creek was last surveyed by the in 1967 and found to contain wild steelhead trout. Rancho Cañada De Verde Y Arroyo De La Purisima
Rancho Cañada de Verde y Arroyo de la Purísima was a Mexican land grant in present-day San Mateo County, California given in 1838 by Governor Juan B. Alvarado to José María Alviso. The name roughly translates to ''ranch of the green glen and brook of the Purest'' (as in Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary). The grant extended along the Pacific coast from Purisima Creek south to Tunitas Creek and encompasses present-day Lobitos and the ghost town Purissima. Rancho San Gregorio
Rancho San Gregorio was a Mexican land grant in present day San Mateo County, California given in 1839 by Governor Juan Alvarado to Antonio Buelna. At the time, the grant was in Santa Cruz County; an 1868 boundary adjustment gave the land to San Mateo County. The rancho extended from Tunitas Creek in the north to the mouth of Pomponio Creek and encompassed San Gregorio, California, San Gregorio State Beach and La Honda History Antonio Jose Buelna (1790–1846), son of José Antonio Buelna (1754–1821) married Maria Concepción Valencia (b.1798) in 1816.
