Tuirial
The Tuirial is a river of Mizoram and Assam, northeastern India. It is also known as River Sonai, a tributary of Barak River. It flows in a northerly direction towards Cachar district and joins the Barak River at Dungripar Village near Sonai town. It is impounded by the Tuirial Dam. Geography The river is about long. Tuirial Dam
Tuirial dam is an earthfill and gravity dam on the River Sonai near Kolasib in the state of Mizoram in India. The primary purpose of the dam is hydroelectric power production. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved the 60 MW Tuirial Hydro Electric Project (THEP) project costing Rs 913 crore in 2010. The Project was Inaugurated by Narendra Modi (using a remote control from AR Ground) on 16 December 2017. Technical Features Tuirial Hydel Project is the 2nd largest earthen dam and the largest in India. The height of the dam is 75 Metres. The dam has 3 split gates, 2 Turbine and 2 tunnel. Mizoram
Mizoram () is a state in Northeast India, with Aizawl as its seat of government and capital city. Barak River
The Barak River flows through the states of Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram and Assam in India. Lunglei (Pron: /ˈlooŋgˌleɪ/) is a town, situated in the south-central part of Mizoram state, northeastern India. Sonai (Pron:/'sə(ʊ)'nʌɪ/সোনাই) is a town in the Cachar district in the Indian state of Assam. It is also the name of a circle and block in the town.
