Tsutomu Sato (politician)
is a Japanese politician of the Liberal Democratic Party, a member of the House of Representatives in the Diet (national legislature). A native of Shimotsuga District, Tochigi and graduate of Nihon University, he was elected to the House of Representatives for the first time in 1996 after serving in the assembly of Tochigi Prefecture for three terms. In the Cabinet of Prime Minister Taro Aso, appointed on 24 September 2008, Sato was appointed as Chairman of the National Public Safety Commission, Minister of State for Okinawa and Northern Territories Affairs and Minister of State for Disaster Management. This was Sato's first Cabinet appointment. Tsutomu Sato (ophthalmologist)
Tsutomu Sato (1902 – June 9, 1960) was a Japanese ophthalmologist who performed an early version of the radial keratotomy and was the first professor at the Research Institute of Ophthalmology at Juntendo University School of Medicine. Biography Sato was the first professor at the Research Institute of Ophthalmology at Juntendo University School of Medicine, where he researched the treatment of eye conditions such as trachoma and myopia. In the mid-1930s, Sato devised a glass scleral lens, but it never came into wide usage. Within a few years, higher-quality glass scleral lenses from Carl Zeiss were available in Japan. In 1939, Sato became the first physician to report the use of radial keratotomy for myopia. Sato knew that the cornea flattened out in patients with keratoconus who suffered corneal hydrops from the leakage of fluid through Descemet's membrane. Japanese Battleship Fusō
was the lead ship of the two dreadnought battleships built for the Imperial Japanese Navy. Launched in 1914 and commissioned in 1915, she initially patrolled off the coast of China, playing no part in World War I. In 1923, she assisted survivors of the Great Kantō earthquake. ''Fusō'' was modernized in 1930–1935 and again in 1937–1941, with improvements to her armor and propulsion machinery and a rebuilt superstructure in the pagoda mast style. With only guns, she was outclassed by other Japanese battleships at the beginning of World War II, and played auxiliary roles for most of the war. ''Fusō'' was part of Vice-Admiral Shōji Nishimura's Southern Force at the Battle of Leyte Gulf. She was sunk in the early hours of 25 October 1944 by torpedoes and naval gunfire during the Battle of Surigao Strait. Tsutomu Satō (佐島 勤, ''Satō Tsutomu'') is a Japanese novelist known for his light novel series ''The Irregular at Magic High School.'' Biography From 2008 to 2011, while working an office job, Satō serially published his writing on the Japanese web fiction website ''Shōsetsuka ni Narō'' under the pseudonym ''Tsutomu Satō''. He has said that since he was a child, he enjoyed imagining fictional worlds and started writing online as a creative outlet. He submitted an unpublished work to the 16th ''Dengeki Novel Prize'' under a different pen name but did not qualify. As of December 2011, his ''Shōsetsuka ni Narō'' account and works have been deleted and cannot be read. In July 2011, his series ''The Irregular at Magic High School'' debuted under the '' ASCII Media Works'' imprint ''Dengeki Bunko'' where it was published from 2011 to 2020.
