Tsumeb Constituency
Tsumeb Constituency is an electoral constituency in the Oshikoto Region of Namibia, comprising the town area and surroundings of Tsumeb. It had a population of 44,113 in 2004 and 19,065 registered voters . Politics As in all constituencies in Oshikoto, SWAPO won the 2015 regional election by a landslide. Lebbeus Tobias gained 4,358 votes, while the only opposition candidate Richard Hoeseb of the Democratic Turnhalle Alliance (DTA) gained 748. The SWAPO candidate also won the 2020 regional election, albeit by a much smaller margin. Gottlieb Ndjendjela received 3,640 votes, while Matti Amoolongo of the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC), a party formed in August 2020, obtained 2,016 votes. Kariiwe Kuhanga of the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM, the new name of the DTA) came third with 322 votes. Constituencies Of Namibia
Each of the 14 regions of Namibia is further subdivided into electoral constituencies. The size of the constituencies varies with the size and population of each region. There are currently 121 constituencies in Namibia. The most populous constituency according to the 2011 census was Rundu Urban in the Kavango West region with 63,431 people; the least populous was Okatyali in the Oshana region with 3,187 people. The administrative division of Namibia is tabled by ''Delimitation Commissions'' and accepted or declined by the National Assembly. In 1992, the First Delimitation Commission chaired by Judge President Johan Strydom determined the number of constituencies to be 95. Since then, every Delimitation Commission has increased this number to accommodate population growth. Oshikoto Region
Oshikoto is one of the fourteen regions of Namibia, named after Lake Otjikoto. Its capital is Omuthiya. SWAPO
The South West Africa People's Organisation (, SWAPO; af, Suidwes-Afrikaanse Volks Organisasie, SWAVO; german: Südwestafrikanische Volksorganisation, SWAVO), officially known as the SWAPO Party of Namibia, is a political party and former independence movement in Namibia. Founded in 1960, it has been the governing party in Namibia since the country achieved independence in 1990. The party continues to be dominated in number and influence by the Ovambo ethnic group. SWAPO held a two-thirds majority in parliament from 1994 to 2019. 2020 Namibian Local And Regional Elections
Local and regional elections were held in Namibia on 25 November 2020 to elect new local and regional councils. The previous round of elections was held in 2015 and won by the ruling SWAPO party.
