Tseraskiy (crater)
Tseraskiy (Ceraski) is an impact crater on the Moon's Far side (Moon), far side, approximately in diameter. It is located to the north-northeast of the huge walled plain Planck (crater), Planck, and to the southeast of the crater Pauli (crater), Pauli. To the east-northeast of Tseraskiy is Crocco (crater), Crocco. This is an eroded crater formation and the outer rim has been steady worn down to a roughly circular ridge with rounded edges. This crater overlies an older crater along the southwest side. There is a small crater along the exterior of the rim to the northeast. The interior floor is relatively level and is marked by several small and tiny craterlets, particularly in the western half. In some publications name has been spelt as Ceraski. Satellite craters By convention these features are identified on lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater midpoint that is closest to Tseraskiy. Vitold Karlovich Tserasky also spelled Witold Cerasky (Russian:Витольд Карлович Цераский; 9 May 1849 – 29 May 1925) was a Russian astronomer and inventor of astronomical tools and techniques. The asteroid 807 Ceraskia and the Lunar crater Tseraskiy are named after him. Tserasky was born in Slutsk, Minsk where his father of Polish–Lithuanian descent was a geography teacher. The far side of the Moon is the lunar hemisphere that always faces away from Earth, opposite to the near side, because of synchronous rotation in the Moon's orbit. Planck is a large lunar impact crater, approximately 319 kilometers in diameter, that is located in the southern hemisphere of the Moon, on the far side as seen from the Earth. It lies to the west of the walled plain Poincaré, another enormous formation only slightly larger than Planck. Pauli (crater)
Pauli is a lunar impact crater that is located on the Moon's far side. It lies about halfway between the lunar equator and southern pole, across the southern rim of the larger walled plain Roche. This crater has a well-defined outer rim that is only mildly worn by impact erosion. A small crater lies on the inner side along the south, and another on the opposite face of the crater to the north. There is some slight terracing along the southeast inner wall, but the remainder displays more of a radially grooved appearance. The inner wall is narrower along the northern side where it overlies Roche. The interior floor has been flooded with lava, leaving a low-albedo surface that is darker than the surrounding terrain. Crocco is a lunar impact crater that is located on the far side of the Moon from the Earth. It is located to the northeast of the huge walled plain Planck, and northwest of the equally huge Poincaré. Just to the north, within one crater diameter, is the crater Koch. This is a nearly circular crater formation whose eastern rim has been partly overlain by the satellite crater Crocco G. The rim has received some erosion, but it retains a well-defined edge. A small craterlet lies across the north-northeast rim.
