Trypes
Trypes (Greek language, Greek: Τρύπες), which translates in English as "Holes" were a highly influential and acclaimed Greek rock band, originating from Thessaloniki, Greece. Their unique sound emerged mainly from the combination of vocalist Giannis Aggelakas' distinctive singing style and lyrics and Giorgos Karras' post-punk and alternative rock instrumentation. They have produced landmark albums like ''Enia pliromena tragoudia'' (Nine paid songs) and ''Kefali gemato chrysafi'' (Head Full of Gold) which not only were commercially successful, but are also considered to be masterpieces of Greek Rock discography. History Trypes was created in 1983 when Giorgos Karras and Giannis Aggelakas wrote their first, post-punk influenced music and lyrics. Michalis Kanatidis (guitar) and Kostas Floroskoufis (drums) accompanied them at their first appearance. Rock and roll entered Greece in the middle of the 1960s. Greek rock performers in the field include Pavlos Sidiropoulos, Dimitris Poulikakos. Greek hip hop groups Xylina Spathia ( el, Τα Ξύλινα Σπαθιά, en, The Wooden Swords) were a popular Greek band from Thessaloniki, distinguished by their special and personal sound, which was unprecedented for the Greek music of the era. Rodon ( el, Ρόδον) was a rock and pop music venue (club) in Athens, Greece, from 1987 to 2005; it was in 24 Marni Street.
