Trumbull is an unincorporated community in Ellis County, Texas, United States. Geography It is located on U.S. Interstate 45, approximately southeast of Downtown Dallas. History In 1872, the Houston and Texas Central Railway developed a railroad switch south of Dallas, along its 1872 rail line extension from Houston to Dallas. Known simply as "Switch", the area would later be called by a variety of names: "Ghost Hill", then "Mackie", then "Clemma", before becoming "Trumbull" in 1904. A post office was established in 1896, but was discontinued in 1967. Ellis County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of 2020, its population was estimated to be 192,455. The county seat is Waxahachie. The county was founded in 1849 and organized the next year. It is named for Richard Ellis, president of the convention that produced the Texas Declaration of Independence. Interstate 45 (I-45) is a major Interstate Highway located entirely within the US state of Texas. While most Interstate routes which have numbers ending in "5" are cross-country north–south routes, I-45 is comparatively short, with the entire route located in Texas. Additionally, it has the shortest length of all the interstates that end in a "5." Houston And Texas Central Railway
The Houston and Texas Central Railway (H&TC), was an 872-mile (1403-km) railway system chartered in Texas in 1848, with construction beginning in 1856. The line eventually stretched from Houston northward to Dallas and Denison, Texas. with branches to Austin and Waco. History Ebenezer Allen of Galveston, Texas obtained the charter to establish a railroad company on March 11, 1848.
