Troedyraur
Troedyraur is a small village, wider rural community and electoral ward in Ceredigion, Wales. The community consisting of several small villages, the population as of the 2011 UK Census was 1,310. The village is on a minor road about 3 miles (5 km) to the north of Newcastle Emlyn. Other villages in the Community are Rhydlewis, Ffostrasol, Brongest, Capel Cynon, Coed-y-bryn, Croes-lan, Penrhiwpâl and Llangynllo. The main river flowing through the community is the Afon Ceri, a tributary of the river Teifi. There is a hillfort, Dinas Cerdin, and the ruined mansion of Bronwydd. Troedyraur is represented at local level by Troed-yr-aur Community Council, which consists of ten community councillors. Ceredigion County Council
Ceredigion County Council ( cy, Cyngor Sir Ceredigion) is the governing body for the county of Ceredigion, since 1996 one of the unitary authorities of Wales. The council's main offices are in Aberaeron. History The current council was created on 1 April 1996 under the Local Government (Wales) Act 1994, replacing Ceredigion District Council and also taking over county-level functions in the area from Dyfed County Council, which was abolished. The 1994 act specified that the new authority was to have both an English and a Welsh name: Cardiganshire / Sir Aberteifi. The new authority was elected in 1995, but acted as a shadow authority alongside the outgoing district and county councils until the new arrangements took effect the following year. Ceredigion ( , , ) is a county in the west of Wales, corresponding to the historic county of Cardiganshire. During the second half of the first millennium Ceredigion was a minor kingdom. Ffostrasol is a small village in the south of Ceredigion, Wales. It is located on the A486 between Synod Inn and Llandysul, and it forms part of the parish of Troedyraur. The village lies on a rural crossroad connecting it with the nearby village of Plwmp to the north, Synod Inn to the north east, Newcastle Emlyn to the south west, and Llandysul to the south east. Hillfort
A hillfort is a type of earthwork used as a fortified refuge or defended settlement, located to exploit a rise in elevation for defensive advantage. Community (Wales)
A community ( cy, cymuned) is a division of land in Wales that forms the lowest tier of local government in Wales. Welsh communities are analogous to civil parishes in England.
