Tring Rugby
Tring Rugby Club is an English rugby union team based in Tring, Hertfordshire. The club runs four senior teams, two academy teams and a full range of junior teams. The first XV currently plays in London & South East Premier. History Tring Rugby Union Football Club was founded in 1963 by commuters, Arthur Howlett, Donald Dover, Peter Hutton, Mike Hulme and local Doctors, David Thallon, Adams and Knox, who formed a team from replies to adverts in local newspapers. In September of the same year Arthurs son Stephen Howlett, who attended Tring's Mortimer Hill Secondary School established a junior team. Making history by pioneering the first rugby club in the UK to have a children's youth team mainly formed from the Tring & Berkhamsted schools 1st year football teams and playing at Kingsley Farm set between Manor Road and Meadow Close, Tring (Now known as Kingsley Walk). Hertfordshire Rugby Football Union
The Hertfordshire Rugby Football Union is the governing body for the sport of rugby union in the county of Hertfordshire in England. The union is the constituent body of the Rugby Football Union (RFU) for Hertfordshire, and administers and organises rugby union clubs and competitions in the county. It also administers the Hertfordshire county rugby representative teams. History Although the Hertfordshire Rugby Football Union was formed in 1935 and there have been club sides based in the county since as the late 19th century, a senior representative side did not take part in the County Championships until as late as 1952. Two years later after their debut, the county was finally awarded constituent status by the RFU in 1954, allowing them to have a representative on the RFU committee. Hertfordshire Presidents' Trophy
The Hertfordshire presidents' Trophy is an annual rugby union knock-out club competition organised by the Hertfordshire Rugby Football Union. It was first introduced during the 1999–00 season, with the inaugural winners being Datchworth. It is the third most important rugby union cup competition in Hertfordshire, behind the Hertfordshire presidents' Cup and Hertfordshire presidents' Tankard. The presidents' Trophy is currently open to the first teams of club sides based in Hertfordshire that play in tier 9 (Herts/Middlesex 1) and tier 10 (Herts/Middlesex 2) of the English rugby union league system. The format is a knockout cup with a first round, semi-finals and a final to be held at Allianz Park ( Saracen's home ground) in April–May, on the same date and same venue as the Cup and Tankard finals. London 2 North West is an English rugby union league which is at the seventh tier of club rugby union in England and is made up of teams predominantly from north-west London and Hertfordshire. When this division began in 1987 it was known as London 3 North West, changing to its current name ahead of the 2009–10 season. Promotion is usually to London 1 North with the league champions going up automatically and the runners up entering a promotion playoff against the league runners up from London 2 North East, however those clubs based in London rather than the Home Counties are sometimes promoted to London 1 South. Relegated teams typically drop into London 3 North West. Each year all clubs in the division also take part in the RFU Intermediate Cup - a level 7 national competition. London 3 North West is a level 8 league within the RFU league structure and is made up of teams predominantly from north-west London and Hertfordshire. Promoted sides tend to move up to London 2 North West while relegated teams drop to Herts/Middlesex 1. Each year all clubs in the division also take part in the RFU Senior Vase - a level 8 national competition. Teams for 2021–22 The teams competing in 2021-22 achieved their places in the league based on performances in 2019-20, the 'previous season' column in the table below refers to that season not 2020-21. Hertfordshire 1 was an English level 10 Rugby Union league with teams from Hertfordshire and parts of north London taking part. Promoted teams used to move up to Herts/Middlesex 1 and relegation was to Hertfordshire 2 until that division was cancelled at the end of the 1989–90 season. The division was cancelled in at the end of the 1995–96 campaign after nine seasons due to the merger of the Hertfordshire and Middlesex regional leagues. Tring
Tring is a market town and civil parish in the Borough of Dacorum, Hertfordshire, England. It is situated in a gap passing through the Chiltern Hills, classed as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, from Central London. Tring is linked to London by the Roman road of Akeman Street, by the modern A41 road, by the Grand Union Canal and by the West Coast Main Line to London Euston.
