Trígono ( el, Τρίγωνο, , meaning "triangle") is a former municipality in the Evros regional unit, East Macedonia and Thrace, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform, it is part of the municipality Orestiada, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 392.538 km2. Its population is 5,370 (2011 census). The seat of the municipality was in Dikaia. The municipality was created in 1997 under the Capodistrian Plan. Trigono is the country's northernmost municipal unit, situated in the triangle between the rivers Evros and Ardas. It borders Bulgaria to the north and west, and Turkey to the northeast. The nearest cities are Svilengrad (Bulgaria) to the north, Edirne (Turkey) to the east, and Orestiada to the southeast. The area consists mainly of low hills, with plains in the river valleys, and higher elevations up to 400 m towards the west. Komara
Komara ( el, Κόμαρα) is a village in the northwestern part of the Evros regional unit in northern Greece. Komara is in the municipal unit of Trigono. Its population was 628 in 2011. Komara is situated on the left (northern) bank of the river Arda, near the border with Bulgaria. It is 2 km north of Kyprinos, the nearest larger village. It is 20 km south of the Bulgarian town Svilengrad, 27 km northwest of Orestiada and 29 km west of the Turkish city Edirne. Population History Komara was founded by the Ottomans between 1780 and 1790. Greeks from Adrianople (Edirne), Ortaköy and Northern Thrace were employed in the manor. The name "Komara" comes from the Turkish phrase (''kum aresi'') which means "between the sands" in English. The residents came from Epirus, Ortaköy, Svilengrad and Kırklareli. Ivaylovgrad
Ivaylovgrad ( bg, Ивайловград, "city of Ivaylo") is a town in Haskovo Province in the south of Bulgaria set near the river Arda in the easternmost part of the Rhodope Mountains, and is the administrative centre of the homonymous Ivaylovgrad Municipality. The border with Evros, Greece is around two miles from the town centre. History Byzantine eparchial lists from the time of the 9th-10th century mention a bishop's centre by the name of Lyutitsa on the site of present-day Ivaylovgrad. Kyprinos ( el, Κυπρίνος) is a town and a former municipality in the Evros regional unit, East Macedonia and Thrace, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Orestiada, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 135.976 km2. In 2011 its population was 806 for the village and 2,226 for the municipal unit. Kyprinos is located southwest of Edirne, Turkey, west-northwest of Orestiada, north of Alexandroupoli and about 5 to 6 km east of Kurdzhali and the Bulgarian frontier, where there is a border crossing. Ptelea ( el, Πτελέα, before 1951: Φτελιά ''Ftelia'') is a village in the northern part of the Evros regional unit, Greece. It is part of the municipal unit of Trigono. In 2011 its population was 441. It is located on the right bank of the river Evros, where it forms the border with Bulgaria. It is bypassed by the Greek National Road 51/ E85 (Alexandroupoli - Orestiada - Ormenio - Svilengrad).
