Dennis Trewin
Dennis John Trewin (born 14 August 1946) is an Australian former public servant, who was the Australian Statistician, the head of the Australian Bureau of Statistics, between July 2000 and January 2007. Trewin joined the ABS in 1966 as a statistics cadet. Between 1992 and 1995 he was the Deputy Government Statistician in Statistics New Zealand and a Deputy Australian Statistician from 1995 to 2000, when he was appointed as the Australian Statistician. Trewin was the driving force behind the ABS's pioneering 'Measures of Australia's Progress' (MAP), a new system of integrated national progress measurement, linking economic, social, environmental and governance dimensions of progress, a project which gained wide respect among other national statistical offices and helped bring about the OECD's global project, 'Measuring the Progress of Societies'. Ion Courtenay Gill Trewin (13 July 1943 – 8 April 2015) was a British editor, publisher and author. Biography Born in London, the son of J. C. Trewin and Wendy Trewin (''née'' Monk), Ion Trewin was educated at Highgate School. He was the literary editor of ''The Times'' from 1972 to 1979 and then became an editor with Hodder & Stoughton (for whom he published Thomas Keneally's '' Schindler's Ark'' in 1982) until 1992 and Orion Publishing Group to 2006. Morris Trewin is a Canadian retired ice hockey goaltender who was an All-American for Michigan Tech. Career Trewin made a splash in his first season as a starter for Michigan Tech, helping the team win the WCHA regular season title while allowing the fewest goals in conference. He was named to the All-WCHA first team and an All-American but could not stop 7th-place North Dakota from scoring 6 goals in the opening round of the conference tournament, ending the Huskies' season. MTU was expecting big things from their new starter in his second season, however, the team tumbled down the standings and Trewin allowed more than a goal per game more in 1972. Thomas Campion Trewin (9 October 1914 – 14 July 1992) was an Australian politician. He was born in Benalla to farmer Percy Charles Trewin and schoolteacher Ellen Alice Bradbury. Wendy Elizabeth Monk (19 July 1915 – 4 January 2000) was an English writer and critic. Publications as Wendy Monk John Gill of Penryn Wendy Monk wrote and published a biography of her great-grandfather, John Gill, a printer and bookbinder of Penryn in Cornwall. Gill was a Quaker and a propagandist for the peace resolution of disputes between nations.
