The Trevélez River is a river in the province of Granada, Spain. It flows through the town of Trevélez in the western part of the Alpujarras region. Trevélez
Trevélez is a village in the province of Granada, Spain. Its population in 2011 was estimated at 823. The river Trevélez flows through the village. They are located in the western part of the Alpujarras region. Two of the highest mountains in Spain, Mulhacén and Alcazaba, are just to the north of the village, a few hours' walk away. Located at a height of 1486 metres, Trevélez is not the highest recognised municipality in Spain. That honour goes to Valdelinares located in the Sierra de Gúdar range of the Sistema Ibérico, in the province of Teruel, Aragon, Spain. It lies at the confluence of the Río Trevélez with a smaller stream, to the southwest of Mulhacén, the highest peak of the Sierra Nevada and of the Iberian peninsula. The Alpujarra (, Arabic: ''al-bussarat'') is a natural and historical region in Andalusia, Spain, on the south slopes of the Sierra Nevada and the adjacent valley. The average elevation is above sea level. It extends over two provinces, Granada and Almería; it is sometimes referred to in the plural as "Las Alpujarras". There are several interpretations of this Arabic-origin name: the most convincing is that it derives from ''al-basharāt'' (), meaning something like "sierra of pastures". La Tahá
La Taha, is a municipality in the Alpujarras region of the province of Granada (province), Granada, Spain. The modern municipality consists of three distinct villages, though several of these are themselves clusters of distinct settlements. It lies to the east of the villages of the Río Poqueira gorge, and to the south and west of Trevélez. The villages are all on south-facing slopes overlooking the Río Trevélez. The villages of La Taha are: *Pitres, with the smaller settlement of Capilerilla above it; this is the administrative centre, the largest of the three villages, and the only one on the through road *Mecina Fondales, which comprises Mecina, Mecinilla, and Fondales *Ferreirola, which is below the smaller village of Atalbéitar In guidebooks and other sources, some other neighbouring villages are often included in La Taha, though they do not belong to the municipality. Rio Poqueira
250px, Bridge over the Río Poqueira The Poqueira is a river in La Alpujarra region in the province of Granada, in Spain. It is formed by the confluence of streams that rise near the summit of Mulhacén, the highest peak of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The river cuts through a dramatic gorge, then joins the Río Trevélez shortly before flowing into the Río Guadalfeo. Near the confluence there is a hydro-electric station, with the associated abandoned settlement of La Cebadilla, built to house the workers. At Pampaneira, near the bridge by which the main road from Órgiva and Lanjarón crosses the river, there is another hydro-electric installation, and just before the Poqueira river joins the Trevélez, at the narrowest point, there is a third - deep in the gorge and invisible from above. Río Guadalfeo
The Guadalfeo is a small river in the province of Granada, Spain between the Sierra Nevada (Spain), Sierra Nevada mountain range and the coastal ranges of Sierra de la Contraviesa and Lújar. This river is formed by the merging of three rivers, the Rio Poqueira, Río Trevélez, and Cádiar. The Poqueira and the Trevélez join shortly before the confluence with the Cádiar near the town of Órgiva. The river flows through the region of Alpujarras, La Alpujarra for much of its course and enters the sea near Motril after passing through a spectacular gorge between the Lújar and Chaparal mountains. Although it is often dried up by this point, its waters are often used for agricultural purposes. The Rules dam was recently built across the river near Vélez de Benaudalla at the head of the gorge, resulting in the creation of a large reservoir and the flooding of a section of the river valley.
