1985 Wimbledon Championships – Men's Singles
Boris Becker defeated Kevin Curren in the final, 6–3, 6–7(4–7), 7–6(7–3), 6–4 to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 1985 Wimbledon Championships. He became the first unseeded player and the first German to win the Wimbledon singles title, as well as the youngest ever male major singles champion at of age. This latter record would eventually be broken by Michael Chang at the 1989 French Open. John McEnroe was the two-time defending champion, but lost in the quarterfinals to Curren. Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. Arnaud Clément (; born 17 December 1977) is a French former professional tennis player and Davis Cup captain. Clément reached the final of the 2001 Australian Open and achieved a career-high ranking of world No. 10 in April of that year. Partnering Michaël Llodra in men's doubles, he won Wimbledon in 2007 and two Masters titles. Life and career Clément was born in Aix-en-Provence to Henri Clément and Maria Michel.
