Rock en español () is a term used widely in the English-speaking world to refer to any kind of rock music featuring Spanish vocals. Compared to English-speaking bands, very few acts reached worldwide success or between Spanish-speaking countries due to a lack of promotion. Despite ''rock en español''s origins in the late 1950s, many rock acts achieved at best nationwide fame until the Internet consolidated the listeners. Papo Román
Víctor "Papo" Román (born December 12, 1957 in Dorado, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican musician most known for being the percussionist of the Rock en Español band Fiel a la Vega. Biography and Career Papo Román is the son of Víctor Román and Juanita Rodríguez. Since he was 12 years old, he started developing an interest in music. His first teacher was his friend Miguel Nieto. After years of practicing and with the influences of Richie Ray & Bobby Cruz, Román started playing with several groups like Orquesta La Preferida, La Sónica, Maso Rivera, Tavín Pumarejo, and Orquesta La Innovacián, among others. In 1996, when Fiel a la Vega was completing the recording of their first album, guitarist Ricky Laureano (who was Román's brother-in-law at the time) invited Román to play percussion in the song " El Wanabí". Pedro Arraiza
Pedro Arraiza (born May 2, 1973 in Santurce, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican musician most known for being the drummer of the Rock en Español band Fiel a la Vega. Biography and Career Pedro Arraiza is the youngest of the five children of Manuel Arraiza and Eneida González. Since he was 8 years old, he was pressed by his brothers Jorge and José to learn to play the drums in order to fill the vacant spot they had in their band. Arraiza then developed interest in bands like The Beatles and The Who. In 1989, after some practicing the brothers formed a band called ''Los Arraiza Voladores'', with cousin Emilio "Milo" Arraiza. At this time, he also developed an interest in Led Zeppelin, which would become his biggest influence. Jorge Arraiza
Jorge Arraiza (born June 27, 1970 in San Juan, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican musician most known for being the bassist of the Rock en Español band Fiel a la Vega. Biography Jorge Arraiza is one of the sons of Manuel Arraiza and Eneida González. When he was 12 years old, he received an acoustic guitar and, pressed by his brother José, develops an interest for the rhythm & blues. At this time, he also starts listening to The Who becoming a huge fan of John Entwistle whom he credits as his biggest influence. In 1986, he formed a band with his cousin Milo called ''Crossroads''. His intention was to play music of the 1960s and the 1970s, but singer Tito Auger wanted to focus on Top 40 hits. The band shortly disbanded and Arraiza kept on working with his brothers (José and Pedro) forming a band called ''Los Arraiza Voladores'' in 1989, also with cousin Milo. Ricky Laureano
Ricky Laureano (born August 3, 1969) is a Puerto Rican musician most known for being the guitarist and one of the main songwriters of the Rock en Español band Fiel a la Vega. Biography Ricky Laureano met Tito Auger in the late 80s. Together they formed another band called ''Farenheitt''. The band recorded a single with the first writing collaborations of Auger and Laureano. Their first songs were titled "Maryann" and "I'd Been Looking". In 1990, Laureano and Auger decide to seriously pursue a career in music and they moved to the United States, specifically in New Jersey. Three months later, Auger's father died and he returned to Puerto Rico. Laureano stayed there and started playing with a band called ''Pure Myth''. Two years later, upon Auger's return they reunited again. After returning to Puerto Rico, Laureano and Auger reunited with friends Jorge and Pedro Arraiza, with whom they had played before and formed Fiel a la Vega.
