Tremp Basin
Tremp () is a municipality in Catalonia, Spain, the capital of the Comarques of Catalonia, ''comarca'' of the Pallars Jussà. It is the largest municipality in Catalonia in terms of area (),The municipality of Tortosa is historically larger than Tremp, but was subdivided into five separate municipalities between 1977 and 1983. accounting for nearly a quarter of the total area of the ''comarca''. The municipality is a geographical oddity and consists of five separate territorial entities within the ''comarca'' (district) of Pallars Jussa (see image). The town of Tremp (population 6228 as of 2009) is the second smallest of these and is situated in the valley of the Noguera Pallaresa river below Talarn and the Talarn Dam. The largest portion of the municipal territory lies to the west of the valley of the Noguera Pallaresa and stretches as far as the Noguera Ribagorçana river. Talarn Dam
Talarn () is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of the Pallars Jussà in Catalonia, Spain. It is situated in the centre of the Tremp basin, on the Noguera Pallaresa river below the Sant Antoni reservoir. It is the site of a hydroelectric power station and of a training school of the Spanish army (''Academia Básica de Suboficiales''). The town is served by the C-147 road between Tremp and La Pobla de Segur. Talarn was originated on a hill around the former castle. It was an important fortified place and the chief town of the area of Pallars in 1453. Alta Ribagorça () is one of the comarques of Catalonia, Spain. Its capital is Pont de Suert. The highest peak is the Comaloformo (3030 metres above sea level) in the massif of Bessiberri.
