Works were commenced in 1864 to double the line between Trefnant and the railway's junction with the Mold and Denbigh line. The station platform and the siding area was still visible until the Llys Teg housing association estate was built around 1990. There was a railway bridge at the top of "Hafod" on the A541 in the village which is now demolished but is still visible as a hump in the road. Trefnant
Trefnant is a village and community in Denbighshire, Wales. It is located on the A525 road in the Vale of Clwyd (''Dyffryn Clwyd''), about halfway between St Asaph (''Llanelwy'') to the north and Denbigh to the south. At the 2001 Census, the community had a population of 1,409, increasing to 1,581 at the 2011 Census. Holy Trinity Church, designed by George Gilbert Scott, is a Grade II* listed building in the village. It was erected to commemorate the life of John Lloyd Salusbury, of Galltfaenan Hall. It forms part of a significant group of listed Scott-designed structures in the village, which include a school and parsonage. Nearby is Llannerch Hall. Trefnant railway station served the village. Vale Of Clwyd Railway
The Vale of Clwyd Railway (VoCR) was a standard-gauge line which connected the towns of Rhyl and Denbigh via St Asaph in North Wales. It opened in 1858, at first without a connection to the main line at Rhyl, but this was provided in 1862. At Denbigh the line later connected to other lines. Although the area became popular with holidaymakers in the 1920s and later, the line never realised its potential, and it closed to passengers in 1955, and completely in 1968. Conception The Chester and Holyhead Railway completed its main line in 1850. There was a considerable area of agricultural land south of the line, towards Denbigh, and a number of schemes were put forward to serve the area. Denbigh Railway Station
Denbigh railway station served the town of Denbigh in Wales. It closed in 1962. The only remains of the station are sections of platform edge. The Vale of Clwyd Railway had used a temporary stop at Denbigh from 1858 until their station buildings, which also housed their headquarters, were constructed. The station was designed, along with several other stations on the line, by the local firm of Lloyd Williams and Underwood. It opened in December 1860 and was for some time the terminus of the railway, until the line extension to Ruthin opened in 1862. The Tudor Gothic-style station building, which incorporated accommodation on the first-floor for the station master, primarily used limestone, with detailing such as around the doors, windows and chimneys being of Freestone (masonry), freestone.
