''Travis McGee'' is a 1983 American TV movie based on the 1978 novel '' The Empty Copper Sea'' by John D. MacDonald. It was the second film adaptation of the Travis McGee series. The Empty Copper Sea
''The Empty Copper Sea'' (1978) is the 17th novel in the Travis McGee series by John D. MacDonald. In it, McGee looks into the apparent drowning of Hub Lawless in a boating accident. His $2 million insurance policy leads some to believe he has faked his death. The title of the book is taken from a passage in Chapter 13 (on page 218 of the first printing of the hardcover edition). The sentence reads "I turned my head and saw, beyond the shoulder of my beloved, the empty copper sea, hushed and waiting, as if the world had paused between breaths." The novel was adapted as the television movie ''Travis McGee'' (1983), starring Sam Elliott. The film abandoned the Florida locales in favor of California. Geoffrey Lewis (actor)
Geoffrey Bond Lewis (July 31, 1935 – April 7, 2015) was an American character actor. He appeared in more than 200 films and television shows, and was principally known for his film roles alongside Clint Eastwood and Robert Redford. He typically portrayed villains or quirky characters. He played a bodyguard in the Jean-Claude van Damme film ''Double Impact''. Life and career Lewis was born July 31, 1935, in Plainfield, New Jersey, but spent much of his youth in Wrightwood, California. He studied theater arts at San Bernardino Valley College for two years, then worked as a truck driver and at other odd jobs before launching his career as an actor. Walter Olkewicz (May 14, 1948 – April 6, 2021) was an American character actor. He played Marko in the short-lived TV series ''Wizards and Warriors'' and Coach Wordman in the feature film '' Making the Grade''.
