Trashland
''Trashland'' is the second and last studio album by Brazilian post-punk band Mercenárias. It was released in 1988 via EMI, and produced by Edgard Scandurra (of Ira! and Ultraje a Rigor, and a long-time friend and former member of Mercenárias) and Thomas Pappon (of Voluntários da Pátria, Smack and Fellini fame). Contrasting with the aggressiveness of the punk-like sonority of their previous album, ''Cadê as Armas?'', ''Trashland'' is characterized by more atmospheric pieces reminiscent of Siouxsie and the Banshees, with emphasis given to the tracks "Kyrie", "Angelus", "Mesmas Leis", "Lembranças" and "Provérbios do Inferno", a compilation of William Blake's Proverbs of Hell translated into Portuguese and set to music. The album received critical acclaim, and was chosen as "Album of the Year" by magazine ''Bizz''. Despite this, EMI fired the band for no apparent reason, leading to its end in the same year and an 18-year hiatus before their reunion in 2006. Track listin ...

Trombone
The trombone (german: Posaune, Italian, French: ''trombone'') is a musical instrument in the Brass instrument, brass family. As with all brass instruments, sound is produced when the player's vibrating lips cause the Standing wave, air column inside the instrument to vibrate. Nearly all trombones use a telescoping slide mechanism to alter the Pitch (music), pitch instead of the brass instrument valve, valves used by other brass instruments. The valve trombone is an exception, using three valves similar to those on a trumpet, and the superbone has valves and a slide. The word "trombone" derives from Italian ''tromba'' (trumpet) and ''-one'' (a suffix meaning "large"), so the name means "large trumpet". The trombone has a predominantly cylindrical bore like the trumpet, in contrast to the more conical brass instruments like the cornet, the euphonium, and the French horn. The most frequently encountered trombones are the tenor trombone and bass trombone. These are treated as trans ...

Angelus
The Angelus (; Latin for "angel") is a Catholic devotion commemorating the Incarnation of Christ. As with many Catholic prayers, the name ''Angelus'' is derived from its incipit—the first few words of the text: ("The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary"). The devotion is practiced by reciting as versicle and response three Biblical verses narrating the mystery, alternating with the prayer "Hail Mary". The Angelus exemplifies a species of prayers called the "prayer of the devotee".''Prayer: a history'' by Philip Zaleski, 2005 p. 128 The devotion is traditionally recited in Roman Catholic churches, convents, monasteries and by the faithful three times a day: in the morning, at noon and in the evening (usually just before or after Vespers). The devotion is also observed by some Anglican, Western Rite Orthodox, and Lutheran churches. The Angelus is usually accompanied by the ringing of the Angelus bell, which is a call to prayer and to spread goodwill to everyone. The an ...

Kyrie
Kyrie, a transliteration of Greek , vocative case of (''Kyrios''), is a common name of an important prayer of Christian liturgy, also called the Kyrie eleison ( ; ). In the Bible The prayer, "Kyrie, eleison," "Lord, have mercy" derives from a Biblical phrase. Greek "have mercy on me, Lord" is the Septuagint translation of the phrase found often in Psalms ( 6:2, 9:13, 31:9, 86:3, 123:3) In the New Testament, the Greek phrase occurs three times in Matthew: * Matthew 15:22: the Canaanite woman cries out to Jesus, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David." () *Matthew 17:15: "Lord, have mercy on my son" () *Matthew 20:30f, two unnamed blind men call out to Jesus, "Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David." () In the Parable of the Publican and the Pharisee (Luke 18:9-14) the despised tax collector who cries out "Lord have mercy on me, a sinner" is contrasted with the smug Pharisee who believes he has no need for forgiveness. Luke 17:13 has ''epistates'' "master" instead ...
