Transit Tech High School
Transit Tech High School is a vocational high school in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. It is a trade school whose mission is the training of students for careers in the rapid transit industry. It is located at 1 Wells Street, at the corner of Fountain Avenue, between Atlantic Avenue and Liberty Avenue. The athletic field for the school is at the south side of the beginning of Conduit Boulevard. The school was originally named East New York Continuation High School in 1915, but was renamed to East New York Workers High School of Brooklyn in 1922. In 1941, it was renamed to East New York Volcational High School. Finally, in 1992 it was renamed to Transit Tech High School. Fountain Avenue is a north–south running street in Brooklyn, New York. Traffic on the avenue is bidirectional for most of its length. Its north end is at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Conduit Avenue. The south end, previously a swampland-like landfill near the Erskine Street exit off the Belt Parkway, has been developed as part of the neighborhood of Spring Creek and Shirley Chisholm State Park, built on the former Fountain Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue landfills. Atlantic Avenue is a major thoroughfare in the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens. It stretches from the Brooklyn waterfront on the East River all the way to Jamaica, Queens. Conduit Boulevard
Conduit Avenue (Conduit Boulevard in Brooklyn) is an arterial road in New York City, the vast majority of which is in Queens. The divided highway runs from Atlantic Avenue in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn to Hook Creek Boulevard in Rosedale, Queens at the Nassau County border. The thoroughfare is named after an aqueduct in its right-of-way. Conduit Avenue and Conduit Boulevard were conceived in 1921 as part of the Conduit Highway, later the Sunrise Highway, with the original highway opening in 1929. The highway was expanded in 1940 as part of the construction of the Belt Parkway. Ridgewood Reservoir
Ridgewood Reservoir is a decommissioned 19th century reservoir and freshwater wetland that sits on the Brooklyn–Queens border in New York City, within what is now Highland Park. Although the reservoir was originally built to secure a reliable water supply for the City of Brooklyn, it is positioned on the Queens side of the border in the neighborhood of Glendale. The reservoir and park are bounded on the north by the Jackie Robinson Parkway, on the south by Highland Boulevard, on the west by Vermont Place and on the east by Cypress Hills National Cemetery. The reservoir was named after the Ridgewood Ponds in Nassau County, which provided the reservoir's eastern water source.
