''Trangviksposten'' is a satirical newspaper parody created by Jacob Hilditch. It first appeared as a feuilleton in the newspaper ''Aftenposten'', a parody of a fictional local newspaper in a small town. Among illustrators were Olaf Gulbransson, Theodor Kittelsen and Øyvind Sørensen. ''Trangviksposten'' was published in three book volumes between 1900 and 1907. Olaf Gulbransson
Olaf Leonhard Gulbransson (26 May 1873 in Oslo18 September 1958 in Tegernsee, West Germany) was a Norwegian artist, painter and designer. He is probably best known for his caricatures and illustrations. Biography From 1885-93, he trained at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway. From 1890, he worked for many Norwegian magazines, including ''Tyrihans'', '' Pluk'', '' Paletten'', '' Fluesoppen'', ''Sfinx'' and '' Trangviksposten ''(1899–1901). In 1900 he studied at the Académie Colarossi in Paris. In 1902 he moved to Germany to work for the satirical magazine ''Simplicissimus ''in Munich after editor Albert Langen had been in contact with author Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson looking for Norwegian talent. With publicity increasing Gulbransson's fame, and even though he lived in Germany between 1923 and 1927, he drew for ''Tidens tegn'' in Oslo. Øyvind Sørensen
Øyvind Sørensen (29 April 1887 – 11 October 1962) was a Norwegian illustrator. He was born in Fredrikstad. He worked most of his career as an illustrator for the newspaper ''Aftenposten'', over a period of fifty years, and also for satirical magazines. His works are represented in various museums and institutions, including the National Gallery of Norway, Oslo Bymuseum and Bergen Museum. During various points in his life, Øyvind Sørensen trained under Johan Nordhagen, Bernard Naudin, Stanley Anderson and Rowland Hilder. Career at Aftenposten Øyvind Sørensen's first stint at ''Aftenposten'' began in 1909. It lasted until 1914, when he left to work for other publications. Jacob Hilditch (20 January 1864 – 1 June 1930) was a Norwegian writer. His literary debut was the short story collection ''Under norsk Flag'' from 1889. Theodor Kittelsen
Theodor Severin Kittelsen (27 April 1857 – 21 January 1914) was a Norwegian artist. He is one of the most popular artists in Norway. Kittelsen became famous for his nature paintings, as well as for his illustrations of fairy tales and legends, especially of trolls. Early life Kittelsen was born in the coastal town of Kragerø in Grenland, Norway. His father died when he was young, leaving a wife and eight children in difficult circumstances. Theodor was only 11 years old when he was apprenticed to a watchmaker. When at the age of 17 his talent was discovered by Diderich Maria Aall, he became a pupil at Wilhelm von Hannos drawing school in Christiania (now Oslo). Because of generous financial support by Aall he later studied in Munich. However, in 1879 Diderich Aall could no longer manage to support him, so Kittelsen had to earn his money as a draftsman for German newspapers and magazines. Knut Helle
Knut Helle (19 December 1930 – 27 June 2015) was a Norwegian historian. A professor at the University of Bergen from 1973 to 2000, he specialized in the late medieval history of Norway. He has contributed to several large works. Early life, education and marriage He was born in Larvik as the son of school inspector Hermann Olai Helle (1893–1973) and teacher Berta Marie Malm (1906–1991).
