Trance Atlantic Air Waves
Trance Atlantic Air Waves (also known as TAAW), is a side project from Enigma's Michael Cretu. He had previously worked with Jens Gad on Enigma's 1996 release ''Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi!'' and they once again teamed up for this side project. Only one studio album was released, '' The Energy of Sound'', by Virgin Records. Side Project
In popular music, a side project is a project undertaken by one or more people already known for their involvement in another band. It can also be an artist or a band temporarily switching to a different style. Usually these projects emphasize a different aspect of that person's or that band's musical interests that they feel they cannot explore within the boundaries established by their main project. Side projects can later become full-time endeavours, but should not be confused with quitting a band for a solo career or another band. Peter Hartlaub of ''San Francisco Chronicle'' called the solo side project "the biggest longshot bet in mainstream music". Enigma (German Band)
Enigma is a German musical project founded in 1990 by Romanian-German musician and producer Michael Cretu. Cretu had released several solo records, collaborated with various artists, and produced albums for his then-wife, German pop singer Sandra, before he conceived the idea of a new-age, worldbeat project. He recorded the first Enigma studio album, '' MCMXC a.D.'' (1990), with contributions from David Fairstein and Frank Peterson. The album remains Enigma's most successful, helped by the international hit single "Sadeness (Part I)", which sold twelve million units alone. Michael Cretu
Michael Cretu ( ro, Mihai Crețu, ; born 18 May 1957) is a Romanian-German musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He gained worldwide fame as the founder and musician behind the musical project Enigma, which he formed in 1990. Cretu began a music career in 1976 as a solo artist and released numerous studio albums as well as writing and producing albums for his then-wife, German pop singer Sandra. He also worked with artists through the 1980s, including Peter Cornelius, Hubert Kah, and Mike Oldfield. Cretu was sometimes identified as "Curly" or "Curly M.C.", in reference to his curly hair and ''creț'' meaning "curly" in Romanian. Jens Gad
Jens Gad is a German producer, songwriter and guitarist of Danish parents. He started making music at young age. Gad produces music for many artists (Sandra Cretu / Sandra Gambino) and was previously co-producer for the musical project, Enigma. In the past he has released albums under the name of "Enigmatic Obsession", "Jens Gad Presents" for his new instrumental work, and also under the name of "Achillea", for his new world-influenced music which features different female vocalists on each album, singing in different languages. Gad works from his 007 music studio in the city of Avalon on Catalina Island, off the coast of Los Angeles. Jens is the older brother of Toby Gad. In 2019, Gad was featured in the Visual Collaborative ''Polaris'' catalogue for the creative sector, he was interviewed alongside people such as; Remi Vaughan-Richards, Bahia Shehab and Yvonne Sangudi. Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi!
''Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi!'' (French for "") is the third studio album by the German musical project Enigma, released on 22 November 1996 by Virgin Records. The album reached to the top spot in Norway and the top five in Austria, Finland, Germany and Switzerland. It spawned two singles, "Beyond the Invisible" and " T.N.T. for the Brain". A planned third single, "The Roundabout", was scrapped at the last minute for unclear reasons, even though a remix had already been created by DJ Quicksilver. The album continued Enigma's trend, giving it a slightly more modern, futuristic sound by combining the elements of Enigma's first album, '' MCMXC a.D.'', and their second album, ''The Cross of Changes''. In popular music, a cover version, cover song, remake, revival, or simply cover, is a new performance or recording by a musician other than the original performer or composer of the song.
