Trad.Attack!
Trad.Attack! is an Estonian band which consists of ( torupill, vocals), (guitar, vocals), and Tõnu Tubli (drums, vocals). They sing in Estonian or Estonian dialects. History Before starting the new band project in 2013, all three band members were successful as musicians on their own. The bagpipe player and vocalist Sandra Vabarna (then Sandra Sillamaa) has an academic degree in folk culture/music studies. The original idea was to form a group performing Estonian folk music inspired by old traditional folk music and contemporary music. Trad.Attack! sometimes uses samples from archive recordings as the lead vocals and backs them with their own original rock, pop, and electronic instrumentals. At their first concert, they joked onstage about having a master plan: to be up to perform in every country in the world. Within eight years, Trad.Attack! played in 39 countries. Torupill
The torupill () is a traditional bagpipe from Estonia. Place in Estonian folk music It is not clear when the bagpipe became established in Estonia. The instrument was known throughout Estonia. The bagpipe tradition was longest preserved in West and North Estonia where folk music retained archaic characteristics for a longer time. Later when the fiddle was taking over folk music a lot of bagpipe tunes were transcribed for it. Very often the bagpipe was used for playing dance music; other instruments served this purpose only in the absence of the bagpipe. Some old ceremonial dances, such as the Round Dance (''Voortants'') and the Tail Dance (''Sabatants'') were performed together with a bagpiper who walked at the head of the column. Eurosonic Noorderslag is an annual four-day music showcase festival and conference held in January in Groningen, Netherlands. The first three days of the festival (Eurosonic) feature artists from all over Europe, the last day of the festival (Noorderslag) features only Dutch artists. WOMEX (short for Worldwide Music Expo) is an international world music support and development project based in Berlin, whose main event is an exposition held annually in different locations throughout Europe. It integrates a trade fair, showcases, conferences, film screenings, networking sessions, and awards. Summerfolk Music And Crafts Festival
Summerfolk is an annual folk music and craft festival held in Owen Sound, Ontario during the third weekend in August (August 20–23 in 2015).
