Tours Métropole Basket
Tours Métropole Basket ( en, Tours Metropolis Basketball) is a French professional basketball club based in the city of Tours in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France. Founded in 1925, its heyday was in the 1970s under the name ASPO Tours, with two league titles in 1976 and 1980 and a European Cup Winners' Cup final in 1976. After going through financial strife and successive reorganisations, Tours Métropole Basket is now the heir of the bankrupt club. As recently as the 2017–18 season, it had played in the fourth-tier Nationale 2, but earned promotion to Nationale 1 for 2018–19, and returned to the professional ranks by earning promotion to LNB Pro B for 2021–22. The LNB Pro B, commonly known as Pro B, is the French basketball league system, 2nd-tier level men's professional basketball league in France. It is the second division of the Ligue Nationale de Basket (LNB), which has organized the league since the year 1987. The regular season champion and the winner of the promotion playoffs from each Pro B season are promotion and relegation, promoted to the French basketball league system, top-tier level LNB Pro A, replaced by the bottom two teams in Pro A. The two last placed teams are relegated to the third level, which is the Nationale Masculine 1, NM1. Joué-lès-Tours (, literally ''Joué near Tours'') is a commune in the Indre-et-Loire department in central France. It is the largest suburb of the city of Tours, and is adjacent to it on the southwest. Population Toponymy The name of Joué-lès-Tours appears in its form "Gaudiacus" in the 6th Century. Jens Ola Johansson (born 2 November 1963 in Stockholm) is a Swedish keyboardist and pianist who currently plays in the Finnish power metal band Stratovarius and Ritchie Blackmore's rock project Rainbow. Orlando Carl Nicks (born October 6, 1958) is an American former National Basketball Association (NBA) player. Amateur career A 6'1" guard, Nicks played high school basketball at Englewood High School in Chicago and then signed to play college basketball at Indiana State. Nicks played sparingly in his first season, averaging 2.2 ppg in 24 games played. In academic trouble with a 1.6 GPA, Bob King, the head coach, recommended that Nicks leave the Sycamores and go to a junior college to work on his academic and basketball skills. He spent the 1977–78 season at Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, Florida, where he averaged 22.4 ppg. Nicks credited the experience, stating, "I wanted to play basketball.
