''Tourfilm'' (1990) is a Documentary film, documentary-style concert film by American rock band R.E.M. The film chronicles the band's 1989 ''Green (R.E.M. album), Green'' tour of North America. Produced by frontman Michael Stipe and director Jim McKay (director), Jim McKay, the black-and-white film features aspects of avant-garde and experimental filmmaking, including handheld camera shots and filmstock, stock footage. Unlike most films of its genre, ''Tourfilm'' is noticeably devoid of standard rock movie staples such as backstage footage and interviews with band members. The film was released on LaserDisc and VHS in 1990 and DVD in August 2000. ''Road Movie'' is a documentary-style film by rock group R.E.M. (band), R.E.M., released on both VHS and DVD, charting the conclusion of the band's 1995 worldwide tour in support of ''Monster (R.E.M. album), Monster'', their album released the previous year. Directed by Peter Care, the ninety-minute-long footage features nineteen songs (all but one a montage) performed over the final three nights (November 18, 19 and 21) of the tour, at The Omni in Atlanta, Georgia, Atlanta, Georgia (U.S. state), Georgia. The set-list reads very much like a complete R.E.M. show—gigs on the ''Monster'' tour were opened by either "I Took Your Name" or "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?" (with the former taking precedence in this case), while the last song of the night was invariably "It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" (as it is here). ''Pop Screen'' is a video feature compiling all of R.E.M.'s ''Document'' and ''Green''-era promotional videos. It was released on VHS on July 1, 1990, and on DVD format ( region 1 only) on August 22, 2000, both on the Warner Brothers label. The 35-minute release features promotional videos to all of the band's singles and several album-only tracks from ''Document'' and ''Green''. It also includes the video for "Talk About The Passion" from '' Murmur''. This particular video was made to promote the compilation '' Eponymous'' which was released between ''Document'' and ''Green'', and this is the reason for its otherwise anachronistic inclusion. It includes the uncensored version of "Pop Song 89," which has three topless women dancing along with a topless Michael Stipe. In preparation for television airings, MTV asked Stipe, who directed it himself, to censor the three topless women. ''This Film Is On'' is a video feature compiling all of R.E.M.'s '' Out of Time''-era promotional videos, as well as several recorded for this release alone. It was released on video on September 24, 1991, and on DVD format on August 22, 2000, both on the Warner Bros. label. The title is a line from the song, "Country Feedback." The 50-minute release features promotional videos to the band's four singles from ''Out of Time'' ('Losing My Religion', 'Shiny Happy People', 'Near Wild Heaven' and 'Radio Song') in addition to videos to the album tracks 'Low', 'Belong', 'Half A World Away' and 'Country Feedback'; an acoustic performance of 'Losing My Religion' from ''The Late Show''; and a live acoustic performance of 'Love Is All Around' from ''MTV Unplugged''. ''Succumbs'' was R.E.M.'s first commercially available full-length movie. Released in October 1987 by UNI/A&M, it contains video footage shot by R.E.M.'s lead singer Michael Stipe dating back to the early-1980s, while the band was still recording under the I.R.S. Records label. Stipe collaborated with local Athens, Georgia artist James Herbert, who directed Left of Reckoning. ''Succumbs'' offers a glimpse of the unique feel of the band before their commercial success. It was released only on VHS and laserdisc, however, all the videos contained in this package are included on the '' When the Light Is Mine'' DVD, released in September 2006. Macon Coliseum
The Macon Coliseum is a multi-purpose arena in Macon, Georgia, United States. It is home to the Macon Mayhem, a minor-league hockey team in the Southern Professional Hockey League. The Centerplex was home to the Macon Whoopee (ECHL), Macon Whoopee (CHL) and Macon Trax ice hockey teams and the Macon Knights arena football team. Andy Gill
Andrew James Dalrymple Gill (1 January 1956 – 1 February 2020) was a British musician and record producer. He was the lead guitarist for the rock band Gang of Four, which he co-founded in 1976. Gill was known for his angular, jagged style of guitar on albums such as ''Entertainment!'' (1979) and '' Solid Gold'' (1981) and hit singles such as "At Home He's a Tourist", "Damaged Goods", "Anthrax", "What We All Want" and "I Love a Man in a Uniform". In addition to his work with Gang of Four, Gill was also a record producer, and produced or co-produced all of the band's albums. Jon King
Jonathan Michael King (born 8 June 1955) is an English musician, songwriter, and Grammy nominated Art Director in the post-punk band Gang of Four. Biography King attended Sevenoaks School, where he was a member of the 'Art Room' that produced musicians Tom Greenhalgh and Mark White of The Mekons, along with Andy Gill of Gang of Four, documentarian Adam Curtis, and film director Paul Greengrass. As Gang of Four lyricist and co-songwriter, he sang and played melodica and percussion such as a microwave oven or wooden block (using a baseball bat or a stick), the latter notably on the song "He'd Send in the Army". Jon Pareles in ''The New York Times'' described King's lyrics as "bitterly analytical, infused with theories from Marx, Adorno, Baudrillard and Godard, and the band was determined to puncture pop romance with the consciousness that people are manipulated by power, economics, media and marketing. Gang of Four are an English post-punk band, formed in 1976 in Leeds. The original members were singer Jon King, guitarist Andy Gill, bass guitarist Dave Allen and drummer Hugo Burnham. There have been many different line-ups including, among other notable musicians, Sara Lee, Gail Ann Dorsey, and Mark Heaney. After a brief lull in the 1980s, different constellations of the band recorded two studio albums in the 1990s. Between 2004 and 2006 the original line-up was reunited; Gill toured using the name between 2012 and his death in 2020. In 2021, the band announced that King, Burnham, and Lee would be reuniting for a tour in 2022 with David Pajo on guitar. Hampton Coliseum is a multi-purpose arena in Hampton, Virginia. Construction began on May 24, 1968. The venue held its first event on December 1, 1969, with the nearby College of William & Mary playing North Carolina State University in a college men's basketball game. On January 31, 1970, the Coliseum formally opened as the first large multi-purpose arena in the Hampton Roads region and the state of Virginia (opening a year before the Norfolk Scope in Norfolk.) ''Songs of the Free'' is the third studio album by Gang of Four, released in 1982. It is their first with Sara Lee as bassist, replacing Dave Allen. In 1996, Infinite Zero Archive/ American Recordings label issued it on CD, with two bonus tracks, and with a slightly changed song order (swapping the positions of "Muscle for Brains" and "We Live as We Dream, Alone"), and mistitling "I Love a Man in a Uniform" as "I Love a Man in Uniform."
