Northumberland
Northumberland () is a county in Northern England, one of two counties in England which border with Scotland. The British Cycling Premier Calendar Road Race Series is a season-long competition run by British Cycling. It comprises a series of road bicycle races for the country's top domestic road riders. Organisation and events In 2010 points were awarded for the first 20 places in each single day road race and for the top 20 overall in stage races as follows: 100, 85, 75, 66, 58, 51, 45, 39, 34, 29, 25, 21, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2. For each stage of a stage race (including prologues) the top 15 riders are awarded points as follows: 30, 25, 21, 17, 14, 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Nowadays the series includes an award for the highest placed U23 rider in the final overall standings. Riders may have up to 10 counting races. Dean Downing
Dean "Deano" Downing (born 24 January 1975) is an English retired bicycle racer, specialising in road cycling who last rode for NFTO Pro Cycling. Downing was educated at Wales High School and Sheffield Hallam University, where he graduated in 1998 with a degree in Construction Management. He rode for the DFL-Cyclingnews-Litespeed team in 2006 and is the older brother of former British champion Russell Downing. In 2004, he represented Great Britain at the World Track Championships. For the 2007 season, Downing rode for the original Rapha Condor team and focussed on the British Premier Calendar. In 2008 the team became Rapha-Condor-Recycling.co.uk. After spending six years with the Rapha Condor squad Downing moved to the new Madison-Genesis team for 2013. James Callum Shaw (born 6 June 1996) is a British road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He previously rode for Belgian UCI WorldTeam in 2017 and 2018, having come through their Under-23 team, in 2019 and in 2020. Career Early life and amateur career Shaw was born in Nottingham but grew up in the town of Heanor, Derbyshire. When he was six years old, he joined his first cycling club, Heanor Clarion. As a teenager riding for Haribo–Beacon, Shaw won the junior versions of both Kuurne–Brussels–Kuurne and Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. Derwent Reservoir (North East England)
The Derwent Reservoir is a reservoir on the River Derwent, on the border between County Durham and Northumberland, in England. It is west of Consett. It is 3.5 miles (5.6 km) long) and covers an area of 4 km2 and has a maximum depth of 100 ft (30m) and when full, holds 11,000 million gallons (50,000,000m³). The reservoir is a key part of the water supply network in north east England (which is owned and managed by Northumbrian Water) as it is the principal water source for the Tyne and Wear metropolitan area supplying per day. The reservoir was first proposed in 1957 when the Sunderland and South Shields Water Company promoted the Derwent Water Order. Building work began on the reservoir in 1960, and it was opened in July 1967 by Princess Alexandra. Team Halfords Bikehut was a 2008 UCI elite women's cycling team based in the United Kingdom. The team was formed in January 2008 with Dave Brailsford, performance director of British Cycling, the general manager. It had been a pro/national team mooted as the first full British professional women's team but there were two men in the team (Rob Hayles and Tom Southam). The team was in 2009 not an UCI Women's Teams anymore and consisted of a mix of mountain bikers and road racers (mainly men): Rob Hayles, Ed Clancy, Ian Wilkinson, Andy Tennant, Mark McNally, Rob Partridge, Seb Batchelor, David Fletcher, Annie Last, Sharon Laws, Ian Bibby.
