"Touched by the Hand of Cicciolina" is a 1990 song by the band Pop Will Eat Itself from their album ''Cure for Sanity''. The song is about Hungarian-Italian porn actress Ilona Staller also known as 'Cicciolina'. Background The song was written by Vestan Pance, recorded in January 1990 and released as a single in May 1990.Anderson, Richard "The Pop Will Eat Itself Story - Part Four (1990-1991)", from the sleeve notes to the 2011 re-release of ''Cure for Sanity'' (Cherry Red Records CDBRED 505), pages 1-4. Pop Will Eat Itself are an English alternative rock band formed in 1986 in Stourbridge in the West Midlands of England with members from Birmingham, Coventry and the Black Country. Initially known as a grebo act, they changed style to incorporate sample-driven indie and industrial rock. Graham Crabb describes their sound as "electronic, punk, alternative hip-hop, hybrid music for fucking, fighting & smoking cigars". Their highest- charting single was the 1993 top-ten hit "Get the Girl! Kill the Baddies!". WhoSampled is a website and app database of information about sampled music or sample-based music, cover songs and remixes. History Nadav Poraz founded the site in London, England in 2008, as a way to track musical samples and cover songs. Mobile apps were released in 2012 and 2014 for iPhone and Android, respectively. The 1990 FIFA World Cup was the 14th FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial football tournament for men's senior national teams. It was held from 8 June to 8 July 1990 in Italy, the second country to host the event for a second time (the first being Mexico in 1986). Being Boiled
"Being Boiled" is the debut single by the British synthpop band the Human League. Composed by Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh, with lyrics by Philip Oakey, it has been released several times since 1978, finally becoming a UK top ten hit in 1982. Different versions "Being Boiled" was first released as a single in 1978 on the Fast Product label, and although failing to chart, was influential amongst other new wave and post-punk artists. In 1987, this version was added as a bonus track to the CD edition of the band's debut album ''Reproduction''. The band recorded a new version as part of a session for the John Peel radio programme in the summer of 1978. The session was recorded 8 August 1978 and broadcast on 16 August. Among the four songs recorded, "Being Boiled" is the only one which has had an official release. A totally re-recorded version of "Being Boiled" was included on the band's ''Holiday '80'' EP, which reached number 56 in 1980 and number 46 in 1982. This version was ...
