Torrumbarry Weir
Torrumbarry is a town in northern Victoria (Australia), Victoria, Australia. The town is in the Shire of Campaspe local government area and on the Murray Valley Highway, north of the state capital, Melbourne. At the , Torrumbarry had a population of 279. The town was once large but shrunk over time. The town still houses a hotel, a hall, a general store and a post office. Weir The town is home to an important weir situated on the Murray River, a few kilometres north of the township. The weir was built in the 1920s. It operated efficiently until 1992 when it was damaged extensively. After numerous unsuccessful repairs, it was decided the weir would be rebuilt with a new design that was completed during 1996. An information centre was built outlining the importance and history of the weir. A post office was built at the weir in 1919 but closed 5 years later due to the fact it was rarely used. Electoral District Of Murray Plains
The electoral district of Murray Plains is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly in Australia. It was created in the redistribution of electoral boundaries in 2013, and came into effect at the 2014 state election. The district was created due to the abolition of the districts of Swan Hill and Rodney. It is centred on the Murray River cities of Swan Hill and Echuca, including the towns of Kerang, Lake Boga, Cohuna and Rochester. The Shire of Campaspe is a local government area in Victoria, Australia, located in the northern part of the state. It covers an area of and in June 2018 had a population of 37,592. It includes the towns of Girgarre, Echuca, Kyabram, Rochester, Tongala and Rushworth. It was formed in 1995 from the amalgamation of the City of Echuca, Shire of Deakin, Shire of Rochester, Shire of Waranga, Town of Kyabram and part of the Shire of Rodney. Murray Valley Highway is a state highway located in Victoria and New South Wales, Australia. The popular tourist route mostly follows the southern bank of the Murray River and effectively acts as the northernmost highway in Victoria. For all but the western end's last three kilometres, the highway is allocated route B400.
